Overall, an excellent cruising experience! Before I end this one I NEED to mention the World Class Bar. BEST BAR ONBOARD! They only do cocktails, but they have THE MOST EXCEPTIONAL BARTENDERS EVER! Nicolas (Nico) and Roberto were AMAZING! Nico was fun and full of good jokes and energy and Roberto was never very far behind. You have to check the place out if you are onboard! I am wondering why it doesn't get more attention. Back to the summary: Would love to cruise Celebrity again but being an adventurer, would like to try somewhere else.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was extremely easy and painless as we took a pre-cruise excursion and were in the terminal at 2:00.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Main dining room food was excellent and our waitress Pauline provided the best service I have had in my experiences.
The Spa Café
1 out of 5
Smoothie selection was horrible and all drinks very watery. Didn't even bother trying the food.
Oceanview Café and Bar
4 out of 5
Similar to the Windjammer Marketplace aboard the Harmony of the Seas. Good pasta bar and nice breakfast options.
Main Restaurant
5 out of 5
Pauline was exceptional and so was the food. No need for specialty restaurants!
Cafe al Bacio and Gelateria
4 out of 5
Sadly, never got to try the gelato, but the pastries and coffee were very good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The ship offered a good selection of pools to use and four hot tubs. Activities were okay with the exception of those I spoke of in the entertainment section.
Celebrity iLounge
3 out of 5
The iLounge is stocked with a full range of products for sale. (Being an Apple licenced retailer.) There are plenty of Macs to use but they are of almost no use without an internet package.
Sky Conference Center
4 out of 5
Very nice conference centre and beautiful views out the side of the ship.
Pool
4 out of 5
Nice pool with varying depths. No real place for the little ones however.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The onboard musicals/shows were very enjoyable. Despite not quite understanding some of the dancing ones, the plays and comedians were funny and entertaining.
Sky Observation Lounge
4 out of 5
Nice lounge to see out the front of the ship with good entertainment.
Celebrity Theater
5 out of 5
Shows were amazing and equipment met needs very well. Extremely nice theatre and very comfortable.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As outlined, our Main Dining Room waitress was exceptional and definitely the best in my experience. Our room steward was able to put up with my friend's nagging and pickiness for the entire voyage while still providing good service and for that earns a 4/5.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Everything was always kept ship-shape in common areas. (Pun intended!) The layout flows well and the only thing that was mildly confusing at the beginning was how not all the forward elevators stop at all the floors. Apart from that, the ship was very easy to navigate.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was located directly midship, with equal proximity to both sets of elevators. It was always kept clean despite my mess and was 100% big enough for even a small family. The master switch at the main door was a nice touch, providing an easy way to turn off the lights before leaving.
Ship tip
If you are an American, don't forget/lose your passports as you are leaving from Canada!
The glacier cruising was a pleasant experience but the low rating is given due to the large overhyping of seeing the glacier. They make it sound like it's super amazing yet it's only really good.
In Juneau, I did an excursion where we took a helicopter to a glacier and went dog mushing. It was amazing and there was plenty to do like hitching/unhitching dogs and feeding and seeing puppies! Highly recommend the tour.
Upon arrival in Ketchikan, it was raining. And it kept raining. And it was raining when we left too. They said it rains on average 300 days a year! I went to go see a lumberjack show (Canada won, obviously! We have always been better tree huggers up here!) and after that ate as much crab as we could at the George Inlet Lodge.
I always choose to leave early and carry my bags off myself. It is more painless and there isn't usually a lot of people. And, they can't lose your bags!
