Celebrity Eclipse

14 Night Iceland & Fjords (Southampton Roundtrip)

Sail date: July 06, 2013

Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship is lovely with real grass, large seating and the normal things to do, however for us, the cruise was let down by the staff catering for 500 travel agents rather than the guests.

Service and Staff

Generally the staff we very nice, however we did get the feeling that the crew were not happy with their lot. This cruise had 500 brazillian travel agents on board and they seemed to have priority on everything to the detriment of 'real passengers'. As Elite our lounge was always used by the 500, and felt we were just left out.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

Reykjavik, Iceland

Really enjoyed Reykjavik, we had two days in port and we had booked the second day for our trip, which worked out very well as the organisation for getting off the first day left a lot to be desired. We nearly has a fight in the queue to get off as people were trying to push in the ONE line to get off... The port is well worth a visit and you must do at least one trip (we did the golden triangle) - just make sure you take something waterproof with you.

Akureyri, Iceland

We just walked ashore, which in nice weather would be lovely, however we got wet - and as it was a sunday, not a lot open, but we did find a couple of places to find something to take away with us.

Klaksvik, Faroe Islands

We did a trip to a small villiage with some food. We found all the local very friendly and had a great experience.

Geiranger, Norway

Our own thing here, and really enjoyed the shopping and the views are stunning, we even found a very nice chocolate shop... we did get a bit wet though.

Flaam, Norway

We did a trip out for some more food and again the views stunning. We did have time to enjoy the shops in Flaam.

Stavanger, Norway

5 out of 5
I like Stavanger and have been a couple of times. Just walked ashore and went to the maritime museum which also allowed us to visit the canning factory, not our first choice but as it was included went to visit, and really enjoyed it. Not the cheapest port of call but really enjoyable.

Kristiansand, Norway

5 out of 5
A pleasant surprise, a very nice welcome as we got off and even managed to have our photo taken by the tourist board (didn't know until we got home). Easy to walk around but there is also the land train which will take you if you don't want to walk or cant. Plenty of shops and we even had some nice sunshine.
