First Timer at 71 by jackfusco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first time on a cruise, and I am 71 years old. I was pleasantly surprised at the organized way it was run for such a large crowd. Ship was very clean, food was just above average, but lots of it. Entertainment was superb and really varied. This was my first, but not my last time on this ship.

Great little get away by heyflorida

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was delightful. We enjoyed the buffet. The sit down dinner we only went one time and it was not at all up to par. Everyone on this ship went out of their way to make everything great. The staff was really friendly. Always cleaning and keeping the ship in super condition. I was not impressed with the shows, but would not complain about them to much since it was a short trip. I think for a short get away this is a great time. I have been on NCL and Carnival and although the people were older (some) I did enjoy not having so many children around.

Great crew/Nice Ship by Grapevine50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary aboard the ship. All of the personnel were great. We chose to do the "whenever you want" dinner seating and thought that was much better than the early/late seatings. We especially enjoyed the enotech machines in the wine bar that allowed us to sample wines and then take a glass with us to whatever dinner we chose. The comedians and production shows were excellent, and the captain was the most personable that we have ever seen on a cruise. The food in the specialty rooms was superior but the buffet food was only fair at best.

Beware of short cruises- disorganized by Cruisingdoctor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have cruised celebrity many, many times... Even this ship on a crossing. Beware of the short cruises on this ship if you are accustomed to service. Three of us booked a royal suite and a connecting stateroom. Butler and large balcony with hit tub. Disorganized and often inconsistent service.

Then, the engine broke. Stuck in key west. They offered no consideration whatsoever... And we asked as did our agent.

Used to love Celebrity but Miami calls the shots and this experience has ruined our feelings about this line and this ship. They seem fine with us taking our business elsewhere... And we will do just that!

Absolutely fantastic! by kandlekickers

Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Captain Tasos was THE BEST captain, and most available captain I have ever met on a cruise. He was accessible, personable, visible and compassionate - would go on his ship again but do want different locations.

I had a fantastic time by desireey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

I loved the ship; it was beautiful and our room was spacious. This was my and my friend's first time in Aqua Class and we enjoyed every minute of it, especially the restaurant, Blu. We also enjoyed the Persian Gardens that was exclusively for Aqua Class guests. I wish I could travel this way each time.

A relaxing cruise! by jenniferkanasug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was good for the schedule, not rush and not too slow. Love the service, and the friendly smile. The dinner was better than lunch or breakfast. Sushi was my least favor there. We watched different show every night, most of them were good for mid-age. Casino was small but it has almost everything, and there was not a big crowd. Two big pools, one for the family outdoor, another one was indoor, it's mainly for message, including some foot message, shoulder massage, and back massage. Plus I really love the gym can see the sea all the time, very nice view to workout.

Great cruise with grownup family by GaileB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was the shortest cruise we have ever been on, we just really just had one day at sea, thus it was hard to evaluate a lot of the activities. the crew is always very friendly and accommodating on Celebrity ships. We had concierge class that has nice extras. We were celebrating my husbands birthday but they did nothing at all special for him, maybe because we were in a specialty dining room

a for-the-most-part well-run ship. The captain had a very dry sense of humor and was entertaining. Mostly enjoyed the staff.

Seabourn versus Celebrity by cruise39

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

In November 2013 we sailed the Celebrity Constellation on a transatlantic crossing from Rome to Fort Lauderdale with stops in Livorno (Florence), Cartagena, Morocco, and the Canary Islands.  We were booked in a Royal Suite which provided a bedroom with access to the balcony and hot tub there, a sizeable living room and a small dining and bar area that could accommodate four for dining.  Unfortunately, the condition of the dining table was terrible with major stains and blemishes.  We asked to have it covered.  (We entertained in our suite several times).  This was our first cruise on Celebrity. Having sailed previously several times on Seabourn and having made a similar transatlantic crossing the previous year on the Seabourn Quest our expectations for the Constellation were somewhat lower than what we have experienced on Seabourn.  We were very pleasantly surprised to find the service on the Constellation to be excellent and the crew to be cheerful, helpful, and eager to please.  We were especially impressed with our butler Cipirian Priscasiu whose service was superb.  Upon our arrival he was asked how difficult it would be to prepare a complicated morning protein shake of eggs, peanut butter, ice cream, and ice (one of us is a competitive athlete on a high calorie diet) and without a moments hesitation he said, “At what time each morning would you like me to bring this to you?”  The shake together with our breakfast was delivered every morning at 8:30. While Chip did an outstanding job taking care of us we were also very pleased with the service staff both in our stateroom (Moreno) but also in the dining rooms and at the bars.  We were accustomed to the excellent service we have experienced on board our Seabourn cruises but we agreed that the service on the Constellation was comparable to the care we have experienced on Seabourn.  Particularly outstanding were Onur, Sheyla, Slojana, Iputu, and of course Marco whose spectacular bartending displays were always exciting.  Because of the special service we received we elected not to utilize the prepaid gratuities options, offering some cash tips during the cruise and the giving each of the crew members who impressed us cash expressions of our appreciation on the day before our departure.

We are without apologies both athletes AND foodies.  We were not unhappy with the food on board the Constellation but here is where the comparison with Seabourn did not match up.  We ate in all of the specialty restaurants and we found the cuisine and creativeness in Blu to be the best dining experience on the ship.  We found the availability of fresh seafood to be limited and the wine list somewhat lack luster.  Although we had been told to prepare for this, we found the need to carry and flash our “drink card” continuously somewhat annoying.  We had purchased a premium liquor package ($1000+ per person) prior to sailing but we missed the all-inclusiveness of Seabourn and the ease with which you could go from venue to venue without having to go through the drill of pulling out your card and signing chits.

The cruise director, JC did an excellent job.  Most interesting to us were his successful efforts to include passengers in the performances.  Near the end of the cruise, a large chorus of passengers who had rehearsed together during the course of the cruise performed to a full theatre.  They in addition to several passenger/singers (thank you Taina Plagmann in particular) received a standing ovation from the entire theatre.

Finally, as we saw him often among and interacting with the passengers it became apparent that much of the high morale among the staff came from the exuberant and affable captain Tasos Kafetzis.  It was clear he had the respect of his crew and they admired his leadership.

Based on our very unexpectedly very pleasant cruise on Celebrity Constellation we have booked a short Caribbean cruise for next month on the Constellation and another long cruise through the Panama Canal on the Celebrity Infinity for later this year.
