What happened Celebrity? by rmoran60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Constellation

Overall the cruise was enjoyable. The ship, although dated, was clean (except for the occasional smell of sewage), and the staff was attentive and friendly. All the ports we visited were enjoyable and, where we took an excursion, we found that to be fun and informative. Food was plentiful and mostly good, except for some cheap tasteless desserts. At times it seems that volume played out over quality. The speciality restaurants were definitely not worth the up charge. Overall, since our last cruise with Celebrity in 2013, they seem to have cut corners and it has effected the quality of what they once were.

Wonderful first cruise by stripeytop

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

For our first cruise this was perhaps beyond what we expected. All ports were excellent and the experience on board very positive. I will definitely consider joing another Celebrity cruise ship in the future.

Fantastic Experience by RVASuz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The 9 night Dalmatian Coast & Italy Cruise on the Constellation was a great one. The ports alone made this ideal but the staff, food & beverage, and entertainment made our time even better. Would recommend Celebrity based on this experience as the entire time onboard ran smoothly (from embarkation to disembarkation and everything in between).

Only off the celebrity Constellation... by Jasonfrank

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Constellation

Only off the celebrity Constellation on Sunday, great ship for its age, little disappointed with the lack of entertainment that goes on past 11.30pm, the silent disco’s were great fun, the shows in theatre were good, the onboard bands were very good also, just check daily as they move about venues quite a bit.. we only ate in the overview cafe which suited us as my Mrs is a fussy eater, found the food to be hot most days, plenty of choice .. loved the stir fry station, also the Asian food was very good. The mrs enjoyed the steaks and chicken, the deserts were a let down, cakes were always soft/soggy in middle, did enjoy the hot desert though with custard. We were in a inside stateroom on deck 3 which was fine. We didn’t book any excursions via celebrity so can’t comment on them, however I did hear plenty say they were very good, we just chose to get off in each port, we were able to borrow a wheelchair for my wife which meant we were able to do things at our own pace which suited us, great ports of call during cruise. Venice (embarked ship) Very poor efficiency in processing, Was in line for about 45mins Koper Slovenia Rijeka Croatia Dubrovnik Croatia Kotor Montenegro Valletta Malta Catania Sicily Naples Civitavecchia Rome (disembarked ship) If you can make sure you have early flight booked as you will be expected to leave ship b4 9.30 at latest, you can pay to extend your stay(we did this) , but not worth it as pools remained closed till new passengers got onboard. We were allowed to stay onboard till 30 mins before it sailed again though, because we had transfers booked through celebrity we got a refund as we did not want to sit in airport for 11hrs before our flight, we then just booked our own private taxi transfer which was good. For any fellow smokers reading this. Smoking is allowed on decks ,4,10(pool deck) and also deck 11, there are certain areas only though not whole deck...

Eye opening by Alicante01

Visited several significant historical sites that are on the UNESCO list. All of the countries and ports visited contributed to the enjoyment value that the cruise ship visits.

Interesting Cruise (Not to be repeated) by NYNJ

Interesting to have been through the Suez Canal. The ship experience was not up to the usual Celebrity standard.

Lovely cruise by Rorysmum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Think we would have enjoyed our cruise much more had I have been well enough to enjoy it. Unfortunately we spent most of our vacation in our cabin. It was well organised and clean. Staff were amazing! To be honest, I was dreading this cruise after reading somsny negative reviews, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. I am very hard to please and am the first to complain if something is not to my standard. No negative comments on our part.

Amazing Indian experience by suziewoozie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

The worst part of the whole cruise was trying to organise the visas on line for t India. It’s not difficult just frustrating. I feel this is a cruise that is definitely worth a visit.

4/3/19 - 18/3/19 - 14... by LyndaMutley

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Constellation

4/3/19 - 18/3/19 - 14 night Arabian Sea and India Abu Dhabi-Dubai (overnight stay)-Oman-Cochin India-New Mangalore India-Goa India-Mumbai India-Abu Dhabi (overnight stay) We are two ladies travelling together. We loved the itinerary and were looking forward to this cruise. However, we had such a lot of hassle regarding visas and medication approval that I was quite ill before we left and would rather have postponed this trip. Also my friend broke a bone in her ankle, one week before we left, and was put in a “boot”, which she had to wear all the time, apart from when showering. That meant she even had to sleep in it! I approached Celebrity requesting that we postpone our trip until my friend had recovered, but they refused to allow this! No swimming, therefore, for my friend. I have various illnesses and take very strong medication. I was told that I needed to get “Prior Permission” to take this medication into the UAE for my personal use. WARNING: Allow yourself 3 months to obtain this Permission as I had such a lot of trouble and it took me just over 2 months before I finally got the required paperwork from them! If you have a USA or UK passport then you are told the visa will be added to your passport upon your entry to UAE. But the advice also insisted that it could change at any time and we had to keep checking with the Foreign Office. The Indian Visa is relatively easy to apply for but is expensive. When visiting Oman, the ship gave out a small ‘visa’ card (credit card size), and you hand it back into the ship once you get back onboard. I wish all other ports were like that! We were in a Concierge Cabin, 8047. AVOID THIS CABIN! There is a contraption attached to the balcony which is there permanently whilst at sea. It only moves whilst we are in port and it is used to take the workmen around the ship to touch up paint! 8047 is the docking station! It covers half of the balcony! We had never been told that there is partial obstruction on this balcony. We would never have chosen it if we had known that. Also you do not expect any obstruction on the balconies in Concierge class. After repeated requests we were finally moved into cabin 8124. We accepted the move but the air conditioning was below par but we never bothered to complain. The ship itself is tired and worn, but was kept spotlessly clean by the staff. We were told the ship will be refurbished in a couple of months. Not before time! The food was fantastic and we could not find fault at all, although there are not many options for Speciality Restaurants. The main Dining Room (San Marco) organisation leaves a lot to be desired. We were on Freedom Dining. However if we tried going to dinner there after 7 pm we were provided with a pager and told to wait in the bar. One evening people were left in the bar until 22.00-22.15! Too late to eat! Once you had a table and were seated, mostly things went very well. The food, again, could not be faulted. A few times when the wait for a table in San Marco was over an hour, then we chose to go to The Ocean View self-service restaurant. We happily chose this one for breakfast and lunch, but we would like to be waited on in the evening. But neither of us like eating too late at night. We also enjoyed going to the shows in the Theatre after dinner; so to wait hours for a table would rule that out. The visiting stars in the Theatre were superb. The resident performers were well below par. The “trapeze artists” (2 of them) were very good. The singers and dancers were like a chorus line of amateur artists. Not the standard I have experienced from Celebrity in the past. As we stayed in two different cabins, we had two different cabin boys. Both men were terrific and could not do enough for us. They were friendly and hard-working. Rusmin looked after us in 8047, and then Savio looked after us in 8124. Most of the staff on board were extremely friendly and appeared to be happy in their work. Excursions booked with the ship were extremely expensive and definitely not worth the money. Some of the coaches were in a very poor state. One coach we travelled on practically had the door hanging off! I have always enjoyed Celebrity cruises and been on a few of their ships. Constellation is well and truly ready for its promised refurbishment.

Uninspired 1st ever Cruise Holiday on Celebrity Constellation by 2oncruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

In summary, we very much enjoyed the holiday, and value was overall good, mainly due to independently booking flights and excursions, and wherever possible avoiding Celebrity Cruises hiked prices.

Eye opening experience by plantycat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

The hard sell, frequent art auctions spa treatments on board shop offers etc under title activities did little to entertain on sea days. The Indian ports of call were let's say interesting to say the least. Evening entertainment was good. Food in the main restaurant was OK but the menus were not to our taste they want to serve mash with almost everything. In the buffet restaurant the food wasn't kept very hot and the bar service very slow. We were angered by charges to our credit card after we had settled the account after we had left the ship for items we didn't purchase. So check your bill.

Great cruise good food , wine and friendly staff. A great way to see and get a taste of India . The only gripe was the added cost for certain things and the cost of their excursions.
