Review summary

Think we would have enjoyed our cruise much more had I have been well enough to enjoy it. Unfortunately we spent most of our vacation in our cabin. It was well organised and clean. Staff were amazing! To be honest, I was dreading this cruise after reading somsny negative reviews, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. I am very hard to please and am the first to complain if something is not to my standard. No negative comments on our part.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room meals were very nice. Drinks in the bars were disappointing. Tuscan Grille very disappointing, both food and service. Buffet food was good compared to some cruises we’ve been on. We enjoyed all our meals.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Unfortunately I was unwell for the duration on the cruise so could not participate as much as I would have liked. We managed a few of the quizzes. Music quiz was repetitive. Could have been better.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows that we did see were very good. Good variety. We also enjoyed the seating in the theatre itself. Take a shawl with you...A/C is set way too low for comfort!

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff are absolutely brilliant! Very helpful and always courteous. Cabin steward Sasa went above and beyond to make us comfortable because I was unwell. Very approachable and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is aging, there’s no getting away from that. But saying that, I felt like it gave it character. We were told that she’s going in for a total refit next year.

Cabin / Stateroom

The size was good as was the balcony. Bathroom very small but functionable. Plenty of storage. Bed comfortable. Good lighting. Just dated.

Ship tip

Public areas are chilly so we would recommend a cardigan or shawl.

Ports of call

Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Didn’t get to see much as we only had half a day in port on final day. Would like to return to spend more time exploring

Dubai, U.A.E.

Was nice. New city, very clean. We did the 6 hour excursion visiting the Burj Khaliefa, the beach and Atlantis resort. Would have liked to have got off the bus but it was rush rush rush.

Muscat, Oman

Not a lot to see here. Visited a mosque but couldn’t go inside. Then went to a souk..very busy. As our guide said “everything on sale is made in China” so didn’t bother buying anything.

Cochin, India

How you would expect India to be. Very dirty and run down. We did the backwaters excursion which was most enjoyable. Plenty of sun cream required, hat and sunglasses.

New Mangalore Port, India Did not visit port

Mormugao (Goa), India

Awful place. Really run down and dirty. Would recommend going on hotel with beach excursion. Don’t bother paying $70 like we did for a taxi to drive us round. Wish we’d stayed onboard!

Mumbai (Bombay), India

5 out of 5
Much nicer destination. How you would expect Mumbai to be. Very busy city. We visited 3 markets. Really enjoyed our 4 hour excursion. Guide was very good.

Disembarkation

We were concierge class so we’re the first off. Very smooth.
