Unhappy with our cruise 12/17 - 12/28 by GaryD5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

just got back from 12/17 11 night cruise on constellation..we have been on celebrity millenium class 7 times and had a balcony each time. I also sought out much info on the size of each veranda, as we had always been able to have at least 1 lounger and pad (as they have by the pool) moved onto our balcony. this is why we paid extra over an inside cabin. this time when I asked was told we COULD NOT HAVE ONE BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE?!?! I complained to the Captains Club person, the front desk talking heads, and even the Hotel Manager to no avail. And I never once got an explanation of what was unsafe about a lounger being on the veranda when a tiny table and 2 chairs were safe. Just the lame "i'm sorry" and "safety issue". They also show a video saying you cannot leave towels or wet swimsuits on the balcony (we always clip them to they chair with hardware-store style clips) cause that was a fire hazard.... Also we had pre booked and paid in advance for the 2 ocean dome railcar in panama. The day before panama got a letter saying it was overbooked (I have the letter still) and that we could take the dome car oneway but a bus on the way back (and like a 30 percent refund). I went to shore ex desk (along with about 50 other people) and asked what else was available. Was told the regular train ride was one (train there and back) as well as a few others. I asked "you mean the dome car goes one way and doesn't come back, but the rest of the train does?" Got a blank stare from the shore exursion talking head. I said if I could not take the dome car both ways like I had prebooked AND PAID FOR MONTHS IN ADVANCE that they could give me a refund (which they did). I think this was bait and switch type tactic and was again very disappointed with Celebrity. If someone would have made a reasonable explanation (that a normal person could understand) of what the "safety" issue was or the panama bait and switch tactic it would have been nice. Instead we were given some pat response that we were supposed to accept whether it made sense or not. We are people not cattle, and this showed to us what Celebrity must think of it passengers as far as "being pampered". It was also interesting to see how the Ship Captain was hawking some of their watches one night for us cattle to line up and buy ("well if the Captain says its a good watch then I better get it..."). How professional. You future cruisers who THINK you will be geting a lounger on your larger veranda HAD BETTER CHECK THIS OUT. It's a real ripoff in our opinion. Who knows what else they might change before you get on board AND HAVE PAID FOR EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE...... We loved Aruba, and the horseback riding beach excursion in Cayman Islands was the best we ever have done. We went early and were back on the ship by 1PM (when 12,000 other passengers were in town from 10 cruise ships...). We tried the dining room breakfast once and the food was cold when served. We stuck with the excellent made to order omelettes and waffles at the buffet. The dining room food was very good for the first several days, but then the sliced roast beef and prime rib became tough (the New York steak was always excellent...). We noticed the cheesecake type desserts were not as tasty, more like local buffet line fare. We had some excellent photos taken with a white background where we would lay down and that type of thing (bought most of those). If you rent a jeep in Aruba THEY ARE NOT THERE AT THE PORT so bring their local phone number and your cell phone.

An Exceptional Cruise by PeterS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

We enjoyed every "Port of Call" and the excursions provided. After an exhausting day in port, we enjoyed a relaxing day at sea, except for Cartegena to Panama. This day at sea allowed we "Senior Citizens", to gain strenght for the next port visit. The "Indian Villiage" in Panama was intriguing. This is a standout cruise.

All in all,we had a delightful cruise . by FrederickG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

The Constellation was great, and she had every possible amenity available. The waitstaff & crew were thier to help(I'm handicapped)at every turn.Best of allwas the Celebrity Suite & the food which were exceptional. The Ocean Liners Restaurant was very nice but dining there once was suffient because the food in San Marco was so exceptional!!! The only thing I did'nt care for was the length of time betwwen ports, which did'nt give us enough time to see Bermuda or Aruba. Otherwise we had a wonderful vacation & would consider Celebrity again

A good cruise, NOT exceptional by JimW9

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

Ship was very clean and well maintained, staff was eager and friendly. The ship came from cruising the Baltic sea, European tours and they didn't seem to change their pool side music, it was dead and NOT suitable for Carribean Cruise, Nightly entertainment was good to excellent, many clubs on board were nice but smokey

A Celebrity Cruise Veteran by HarveyR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

As we have cruised on the sister ship (Summit) previously, we were familiar with the layout of the Constellation prior to departure. The ship is continually being maintained and the staff does a great job of cleaning the common areas regularly as well as the stateroom so they maintains a fresh appearance

A Fantastic Cruise by ChrisC25

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

The first impression of the ship was very good. The crew was very polite, well dressed, and helpful. We enjoyed the size, and layout. (The long walk to the theater after dinner was so good for us.) We found the cleaniness fo the ship to be in excellent condition, especially the bathrooms. There was never a messy public restroom. The decor of the ship was light, attractive and charming. We appreciated the bright colors to encourage a wonderful day!

Our Cruise for Rest and Relaxation by JohnA27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was everything that we heard about and more. We have done several cruises in the past on Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Renaissance and had a great time on all but the Constellation and staff were the best yet. We booked on the concierge level and were not disappointed.

A wonderful cruise by SondraA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

The crew starts your cruise with a warm welcome and a flute of champagne to toast your companion. Upon entering our veranda cabin our stewardess was right there to geet us with a warm welcome. From then on ALL was wonderful! Our dining table (table of 12) was the best I ever had. The service was alway to perfection. The waite staff truly worked hard and showed humor. The menus are not as great as they use to be and the food wasn't as great either, but all in all it worked fine for us. The upscale restaurant was outstanding. The captain was always visable to the passengers and took time to talk with us. The entertainment was great. i will be certain to go on the Constellation again, and certainly sail on Celebrity often!!!

Celebrity Constellation by CaroleV

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

We loved all aspects of the ship. The ship is beautiful and the staff is always cleaning and shining it up. The staff seems so happy, and they always seem to be there when you need them. We told our room steward the last day that she didn't need to make the bed, because we would just mess it up with our packing. We might as well have suggested she hang herself, lol she was just not able to meet that request. Overall this was the best cruise.

A fabulous cruise by DeirdreL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

We recently sailed on the Constellation to the Western Carribbean. It was our first cruise over 7 days, and we would only travel this way again. It was fabulous. The staff, the service, the food was more than we could have hoped for. We only got off the boat in two ports we were so pleased with the on ship service and amenities. It is a wonderful way to travel. The Ocean Liner restaurant was so good we went twice. The service there was better than any five star restaurant we have been to, and they were wonderful enough to share a recipe with me for something I adored. I am making it at home, but it is not quite the same as being served this dish with the flair the staff had. The main restaurant staff was warm and welcoming and made you feel just like family. This was the relaxing, rejuvinating vacation we needed, and we are anxious to do it again.

Never made to feel in the way in any situation. This has been the best experience of our lives. It even beats our trip to Paris, France. As soon as we can do this again, celebrity will sure be hearing from us again. Thank You to all who partisapated in our dream
