Review summary

We enjoyed our third Celebrity Cruise on the brand new Ascent. It is a wonderful ship and service is wonderful. While we still love Celebrity, the slow erosion of premium benefits are notable - see note on the drinks packages.

Embarkation

No lines. We walked right on. Room was ready. Luggage came quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Overall Celebrity is very solid in all areas. We noticed significant erosion of the benefits with the premium drinks package. Our previous experience was that the nicer bars had a couple of super-premium options. Just over a year later, 40% of the drinks at the World Class Bar for example are above the premium threshold and you have to pay a couple of dollars per beverage on top of your package. Food in the main dining was good to great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pool are is great. Silent Disco was a blast. It is not an experience designed for elaborate activities but they do a good job

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The theatre shows were ok, not amazing. There are too many production shows exclusively at very small venues (Eden, the Club) that require showing up an hour early for any shot at a decent seat.

Easy to navigate. Elevators seldom require much of a wait. Beautiful decor.
