Review summary

The ship look is pretty great, our room was very nice and loved the larger sunset veranda. The pool is way over crowded, the food was subpar and the entertainment headliner was awful. We had a good time but this was not what I have experienced with Celebrity in the past so was disappointing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was extremely disappointing - this ship doesn't have a main dining room and maybe that is the problem - trying to do too much and not succeeding. The only "restaurant" that was decent was the Tuscan - the food not always good but at least the service was fantastic - the service in the other 3 main restaurants - Normandie, Cyprus and Cosmopolitan were less then expected. Additionally - what is the deal with "more expensive" alcohol that isn't included in the PREMIUM drink package? I mean really? You go to a bar and ask for a drink made with a particular liquor and then are told it isn't included? Rude.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pool was over crowded and if I wanted a circus master yelling at the crowd I would go on a Carnival cruise - why isn't it okay to have an older target audience and not try and be the "party" cruise?

Entertainment

2 out of 5
So bad...the main theater act was a joke - left after 2 songs. Bad singers - I wish I could have seen the comedian but the first showing was at like 1030pm - while I know that isn't that late there weren't a lot of options

Children's Programs

This was an adults trip and we didn't take kids - They did a good job of keeping the kids hidden - I want to go on an adult cruise - If I wanted a family friendly cruise then I would go on Carnival or Royal Caribbean

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room stewards were AWESOME but clearly there isn't enough staff - no wait service to speak of at the pool, overcrowded bar with only one or two bartenders and definitely not enough folks making pizza.....

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean except for the smoking areas - no one seemed to clean those up at all (the gentlemen in our group wanted to smoke cigars) Great design except again why the 4 Main dining restaurants - do a few things well instead of many things poorly.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Probably one of the better rooms on the ship and again the cabin steward was delightful.

Ship tip

Choose a different ship with a main dining room - I am hoping for the best next Spring as I have another trip planned on the Equinox

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
The taxi service is extremely expensive but they drove us to the French side of the island to visit another resort - only time we could actually enjoy a pool

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

2 out of 5
The Port itself doesn't really have anything good to see -bunch of the same touristy stuff to buy - we didn't do any excursions because we got there so early and had to be back by 3pm

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Wow - the Port is fantastic - you could literally spend all day there - but if you want to get out it will take 20-30mins to wind your way to a taxi
