Booked this cruise last-minute for spring break with my wife and 11 y/o son, when land-based trip fell through. We were open for anything. Overall, we had a good time. The ship crowd was around 60 y/o on average, with some families and some octogenarians +. Passengers were generally polite, but some passengers were rude to staff. This was a full sailing, so it was busy everywhere. Arriving for dining before 6pm was a good idea, or after 8pm. I became ill with COVID on day 5, which was my first time ever. They allowed my wife and son to go to an open cabin until debarkation. There was a dedicated concierge for COVID, and medical crew who checked on me. I received free room service and steaming Wi-Fi. The room service menu is VERY limited, but I made due. The medical department didn’t have a stock of Paxlovid, which surprised me. Overall, they handled my illness well the last 2 days of the cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The fastest I’ve ever experienced. On the ship within 15 minutes of port arrival.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Didn’t have opportunity to sample specialty dining, as they only had openings at 9pm. Could always find something to eat in buffet. Tried included main dining rooms, which were all acceptable. Some dishes were great, while some were atrocious. Tuscan was our favorite.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Always something to do, on par with most cruise lines. We sort of kept to ourselves and made our own fun.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Entertainment is very subjective. What one person likes may not be enjoyed by another. Left in the middle of “Tree of Life,” as it was repetitive and didn’t make much sense. “Crystallize” was good. The family comedian was good, and my young son was laughing the whole time. The cruise director Brittany from Canada was the best I’ve had in 9 cruises.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Didn’t encounter one bad staff member. They were obviously overworked, but they were always helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Everything was clean and in good order.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
I liked the concept of the infinite Veranda, but the main issue was that the window was heated by the sun and made it difficult to keep the cabin cool. The cabin thermostat went down to 66, but the actual temperature in the cabin never went below 70. If you opened the window, the temperature skyrocketed and it took forever to cool down, so we rarely opened the window. Other than that, great cabin. Beds on firmer side but good.
Ship tip
Bring your patience at elevators and crowded areas, as the passengers were definitely on the more mature side, so lots of scooters and wheelchairs.
Very friendly people. Took snorkeling excursion, which was within sight line of the ship. Great visibility, lots of fish and coral. I recommend excursion through ship at this port, due to long tendering process.
