Review summary

The cruise overall was a great time. Carnival is known for bring a party line, and they didn't disappoint. Halloween night was a spectacle to be seen. The food was overall very good, but the buffet was disappointing. My wife is a picky eater, so we didn't explore the specialty restaurants due to the menu's being a little to "nouveau" for her taste. And the surf and turf in the main dining room was an excellent upgrade for half the price. We really enjoyed the Damjagua zip & dip experience in Puerto Plata. The guides were great and the trip was fun. We were disappointed they cancelled the 2 Reef Snorkel in Grand Turk the night prior due to expected bad weather. However, that day turned out to be fairly nice and the trip could have been made. Half Moon Cay was nice, pretty beaches, but not a lot to do. Entertainment onboard was good. We're not the type to get too involved with onboard activities, but the main event shows in the Liquid Lounge were very nice, especially the VIP 54 show. Also the Vista Band in the Ocean Plaza lounge was very good and entertaining, We danced the night away. Last but not least, any staff we had contact with throughout the week were very pleasant and helpful. The trip overall was a lot of FUN!

Overall the food was very good. The Main dining room food was very good to excellent. We didn't partake in any specialty restaurants. The Buffet however left much to be desired. It was very small and the choices were very limited.

Onboard Activities

Not sure why, but it seemed like they used the excuse of "high winds" (they weren't really that bad) to close down the air bike and ropes course. So there wasn't much to participate in.

Entertainment

Overall the entertainment was good. We enjoyed the VIP 54 show and the Vista band in the Ocean Lounge played great music, we danced the night away.

Service and Staff

The staff was excellent, very pleasant and cheerful at every exchange. Just ask and you will receive.

Ship Quality

The ship was beginning to show its age, but they did their best to keep it clean. I'm thinking it's due for a refit soon.

Cabin / Stateroom

The Ocean Suite was spacious (by cruise standards) and very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, not too soft, not too hard.

Ship tip

Take the time to really discover the ship. There were a few things we didn't know about until halfway through the cruise.

Great cruise with a few hiccups

The cruise was good, but not great. The food was average, the staff were late several times for trivia and one trivia host scolded some participants.
