Review summary

Had a great time; however, I will not be sailing on the Vista in the future. Apparently, they can't fix her problems.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was the usual. Whatever time I get there, there are a million people waiting to board. Being platinum is just a smidge better than being a newbie.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I ate every night in the Reflections dining room. Food was varied and delicious. Always served hot.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I didn't participate in any activities on board. Spent some time in the Ocean Plaza listening to music or playing trivia. Otherwise, I was on my balcony enjoying the ocean view and relaxing and reading.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Attended one show in the Liquid Lounge; the Love and Marriage Show which is always a hoot. I have to comment on the Vista's size, I would think the Liquid Lounge would be bigger with seats that are comfortable with a place to put your drink down. The stage was really small.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff onboard were helpful and friendly. My room steward, Adi, kept the room clean and was always welcoming when he saw me in the aisles. Our main waiter in the dining room, Tuki, was very friendly and took good care of our table.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Didn't notice any obvious uncleanliness. A little rust here and there, but nothing to complain about. There was always someone mopping, sweeping, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Typical balcony cabin, enjoyed that it was bigger than the Mardi Gras balcony cabin of my last cruise. Ample storage, always kept clean by Adi. Dreaded shower curtain.

Ship tip

Enjoy your time onboard.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Ship was docked at the farthest dock which meant a long walk in the heat. Otherwise, I just shopped at this port.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
Took a bus tour of the island. Beautiful island. Saw lots of flamingos in a lake, beautiful ocean views.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Took a tour of Puerto Plata and the countryside visiting a school, a typical home, and beautiful countryside on an open-air mega truck. A bit windy, but that's what made it fun. One comment on Puerto Plata - the motor scooters are in the thousands and they wind in and out of traffic. It was a little concerning.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
We had propulsion issues on the last night of the cruise which delayed our arrival at Port Canaveral. It was a disaster debarking the ship. We had to leave our rooms at 9:30am and it wasn't until 12:30 when I got off the ship. Don't know whether the ship doesn't have a good plan to debark or if everyone just wanted to get off because were late. PATIENCE was very much a virtue that day!
