Review summary

I am already looking to book my next cruise. Hopefully my wife will be able to attend this time it was not much of a honeymoon without her because the documentation problem. We will try again soon. I do plan to take advantage of the Captains offer for a tour & will bring my uniform for the formal night

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Slow to start, expected with the number of guests. After into the terminal doors it was fast. My wife was unable to board because of documentation issues

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I did not partake in any premium meals. All I ate was first class the dining room service was impeccable. All of the drinks were great the bar drinks were very special and the regular coffee was not too strong or weak.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
A couple Non sponsored veteran activities fell through locations changed and poor attendance. The main veteran welcome was great Deon the cruise director was excellent, and he helped later to assist with veteran cruise drawing registration after the debarkation talk because I was too busy after the Vet welcome and missed him.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The string trio was beautiful, polite and accommodating. Tey did not have some songs in their catalog but had many others that more than made up . I did not participate in other shows but my son's lover the comedy shows except being cleared out between shows. I said they have to make time to change between shows.

Children's Programs

no children in my party

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My Stateroom attendant, Dennis, was the best! I talked with him about his home and really enjoyed the towel zoo. I guess he saw my sanitizing wipes and left me a bottle of spray sanitizer on the 3rd night. the Sa I said previously Deon the director he did a great job promoting St Jude, an organization close to my heart. Your Alchemists: Dalibor, Mark, Ishaani &Bianca were fantastic, very entertaining & like family with the guests I thoroughly enjoyed Ishaani and sharing family stories with her. In the Atrium Thida always greeted me in the morning when I came down with mu coffee to enjoy her early morning company. Kim always had entertaining stories at the bar as well and a cold glass without asking! I loved talking with Somwang in the buffet area while waiting on breakfast and he was on the ball keeping the incets at bay. I would like to make a special shout out to the Captain, Chief Engineer and Hotel Manager for taking time out to talk at length with me I had many questions being a US Nayy Naval Architect. (a lifetime of naval service military and civilian) Your Captain mentioned granting me to see the engine room on my next cruise but would not be able to take me in. I would be happy to cash in that chip in the near future.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Being an old hat navy sailor, it did not take long to get familiar to the layout. the common areas were bright and spotless. I was always seeing crews cleaning (late to bed and early to rise)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Not too large as expected but I spent little time in it. Dennis the attendant was great. I would always meet him in the passageway and let him know was out for the day and thanked him daily for the work left him a bonus because he did such a fantastic job.

Ship tip

Although my non sponsored tour was awesome I would reccomenrd the sponsored tours so if you are late returning the ship will wait. Non sponsored the do not have to, I did not know this ahead of time. I returned after a fantastic tour 1 hour ahead of the departure time & didn't miss the ship.

I have always loved overseas travel and found beauty in every place I visited. In HalfMoon Cay I swapped the nature walk for a tram tour since I was the only one on the walk. The heat would have not made the walk very fun. Thanks to the carnival crew for the suggestion. The food on the tours in Gran Turks & Dominican Republic were great. As stated, before my tour in the Dominican Republic was booked outside Carnival (military travel site). It was actually the best. I got a hands-on adventure in the country the animals and fauna eating fresh fruit and coco. I even got to roll a cigar (don't smoke). It was awesome.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

I wish I took more advantage but the heat and humidity made it difficult with COPD

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
seeing how the wild donkeys and horses was a highlight

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

I will defiantly be back. this was reminiscent of many places I have been before

Disembarkation

This was horrendous. Many did not wat their turn to leave and a lot felt entitled to cut in line making the time long and grueling. I had to sit a couple times because of my bad knee
