Review summary

We were so looking forward to our cruise. We've sailed with Carnival many times. But I can honestly say this was our worst cruise every. The cancelation of our excursion. The lack of attention by the guides at Cozumel. The change in Port in Jamaica. The time allowed at each port was reduced by 1 hr at Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Just was not a nice vacation.

Embarkation

Very unorganized. You sign up for a designated registration time and everyone is brought in like cattle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The main dining rooms were clean, but the food had no taste. What was stated on the menu was not what the meal was brought to your table. The wait staff was fantastic!!! The buffets were only open for a short period of time. Long lines and they ususally have both sections open, but this time they only had 1 section open, How are you to service 3500 people during peak meal times?

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The game name that >>> was a lot of fun. The outdoor movie was very relaxing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Comedians were awesome. We did not have any variety shows because the group came down with COVID. So, evenings were filled with Comedians and whatever was available to attend. Which wasn't much.

Children's Programs

no children in our party

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our team server I Wayan Adhi was fantastic. great conversation, always checked on us during our meal in the restaurant Horizon's. Our Room Stewart Felix was very friendly and attentive. Holly the Ship consultant for shopping was outstanding and helped us with many of our jewelry purchases. Some of the crew didn't understand what were would ask and just walked away.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship for the most part was very clean. The common areas were always maintained and someone was always mopping the floors.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The Room needs updating. It was very dated. The drawers under the sofa was broken. The Bathroom just seemed very old. Our room was always clean and presentable. The lack of TV options was not great, especially when you don't have entertainment due to Covid for the main headliners.

Ship tip

Do not book the Spa Deck. You will have to wait forever for an elevator. it's not worth the extra $$$ you pay. The extra free amenities were not provided due to Covid, We found out after we arrived on the ship and check with the Spa. But yet, they took our money for any spa treatments we booked. We were not happy with our cruise. I have sailed on over 15 cruises and this is the worst experience I have had.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Didn't venture throughout the city. We just arrived for the cruise and left on return.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Our original port was suppose to be Ocho Rios, but they changed this port. We had to book an excursion that was at least 1.5 hrs to get to Dunn Rivers Fall. The excursion for the Dolphin Encounter took at least 1 hr for the trainers, etc to get things ready. You should already have things ready for your customers. We were 1.5 hrs late getting back to the ship from Ocho Rios and could not shop.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Grand Cayman is beautiful. We walked around town and did some shopping. Our excursion was canceled by the group that organized it. So, we of course were disappointed. We did visit Diamonds International and picked up some very nice jewelry.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We've been many times to Cozumel and always find something fun to do. We tried the zipline at Island Beach Club. We had a lot of fun. It was supposed to be the Zipline, Snorkel and beach package. Our guide actually left us behind at the zipline. 6 of use had to find another guide to show us around and take us out to the snorkel area. These guides did not know how to show the first time snorkel group how to use their equipment. I asked the guides what type of fish we would see and he said, he had no clue. We made the best of what we had. Made some great friends on the zipline portion.

Disembarkation

Trying to get off the ship is always a challenge no matter what you try. We just go with the flow. We had early tags to leave the ship, but we didn't leave till almost 10:00am. We had 9 am.

Not sure how to feel on your opinion about “dated” cabins. The Vista is one of the newer ships in the fleet in terms of ship age. I wish Carnival would give passengers advance notice of port changes as I know they are aware well in advance. It’s not fair when you look forward to a certain port only to find out if a last minute change. Also what if you have booked a non Carnival excursion? I’m sure they will not refund us for that. So sorry your cruise was not enjoyable.

Sorry to say but Diamonds International is a rip off. My ex bought me a ring in the Bahamas that was appraised thousand of dollars less when we got home!

Wonder why their experiences were poorer than others. Promises made by the booking agent?
