Review summary

Way better than expected, given the current insanity. We were quite willing to cancel our next one on her in FEB depending on the "experience" on THIS cruise. We're going.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Had all our paperwork, including actual hardcopy of covid tests taken the day before in Galveston. Supervisor came over and blessed everything after I got kind of mad. Other than that, it was actually faiurly well organized/Inexperienced person didn't know how to read them, thought we needed a covid test. GFortunbately

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
As actual venues they were ok. Liked the HUB APP once you get used to it. Food was average. Quality has been declining for years, now even more so. Did all the specialties. Italian was the worst, wait staff had no idea how to serve an Italian meal. Best was Japanese, did it 2x. Explained to the wait staff I am familiar with Far East family style meals. We got portions you needed a shovel for, didnt care how many appetizers we ordered. Did the steakhouse at $38 pp, then realized you get the exact same steak in the MDR for a $20 upcharge. HMMM.... MDR and all restaurant menus available for the week on HUB. Morning coffee (it can grow hair) delivered to the cabin every day promptly at 6:30. Give the folks who deliver it $2..well worth it.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Stayed in HAVANA. Don't know it you call that an activity, but having private hot tubs and bartenders was outstanding. Well worth the extra $$. Not into climbing rocks etc.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedians were funny. Even tho we had to wear masks. Stage show was a bunch of 80's tunes stitched together. We have seen actual production numbers on most cruise ships. No social distancing...just not possible.

Children's Programs

No kids to bring. A handful of others had really little kids, really almost none onboard.....hmmm

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Couldn't be more pleasant, polite, helpful. Steward was a jewel...unfortunately she goes home in JAN, a month before our next one in the same cabin. Engaged with many of them at all levels. Clearly all extremely happy to be working again, even with the outrageous hours they work.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
If I could give the ship 6 stars I would. Never seen so much cleaning and disinfecting on any ship, or line we've been on. Might have had something to do with only having about 2300 passengers onboard.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Spectacular. Back in Havana. Cabin size about average for the class, balcony was....beyond words. Spent more time on it than on any other balcony cabin on any ship. Will do it again in FEB, same cabin.

Ship tip

Learn the HUB. Unfortunately, I doesn't "liven up" until you're on board. Took a day or so and little advice from another cruiser. After that, works like a charm. TV sucks as usual, found a "real" music channel by sccident.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Better than many, and they're going to expand it...Don't know how long that will take tho.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras Did not visit port

Been there done that...

Belize City, Belize Did not visit port

Been there done that

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

Been there done that

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Went very smooth...walked off with our luggage AFTER we had breakfast in the MDR. And still disembarked with the first group, they never checked for the "sequence" of the muster stations which is how it was supposed to be done. Many elevators out of service to accommodate disembarkation and operated by cruise. Nice touch.Oversall

Glad you enjoyed it. I’m always surprised at how many people visit a port a few times and then stay on the ship their next visit. We’ve always either found something new and interesting to do on multiple visits to a port or something we love and do each time we visit.
