Review summary

Had a great cruise and fully intend to do another one with Carnival. The only negative experience was our stop in Ochos Rios. The people there was awful. Rude, threatening and nasty. Will never go to Jamaica again. Now I understand why so many people told me it is an awful place. Luckily Cozumel and Grand Cayman were wonderful.

Embarkation

We were on the ship within ten minutes of arriving at the port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I enjoyed every restaurant on the Vista and of course the buffet and deli. If I did not like what the buffet had to offer I had other options and could always find something to eat.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The staff was wonderful but I did not see our cruise Director often. My last time on the Vista I saw the Director (Kendall Fire) everywhere and she was so personable and friendly. I understand this was Schwartz's last cruise before his vacation so he may have been busier than usual.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We participated in trivia and caught a few of the shows which were enjoyable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Loved our room steward Elvio. He was so friendly and funny. The housekeeping, bartenders, servers and casino hosts were all friendly and hard working.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I am still trying to get used to the Vista after my first 2 cruises on The Dream. Vista has a few issues...no glass elevators, private suites blocking off areas, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an inferior room and were very happy with it.

Ship tip

Study the layout as Vista's can be confusing.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Live Cozumel and the people. They are not pushy and will barter with you. The scenery is beautiful and there are so many stores to see where you can find gifts to bring home.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Awful! One of the worst experiences in my life was getting off the ship at this port. The island is beautiful but the people we encountered were awful. Not only were they pushy and aggressive but they were rude and vulgar. They touched me without permission, got in my personal space and followed me everywhere. I said said no thank you when they tried to sell me something (drugs, pot brownies, jewelry) or offered to take me to hot spots and they began insulting me and threatening me. So I finally stopped saying no thank you and just ignored them which caused them to get even ruder. We were off the ship for a total of 20 minutes before getting right back on. When we got back on the ship we overheard so many people complaining about how badly they had been treated in Jamaica. Will NEVER go back there. I have nothing nice to say about this port or the people we encountered.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Grand Cayman is another one of my favorite places. Aside from a bad experience having lunch at Margaritaville (which was due to an unpleasant server who happened to be American) we had a great time exploring new areas outside the port.
