Overall we had a great trip. I would imagine that we will cruise on the Vista again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarkation experience was a little rocky. The port was closed due to the fog in the morning and they didn't actually start boarding the ship until about 5:30 in the afternoon. Once it started it went quickly and smoothly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate dinner in the Horizons dining room every night. The food and the service was excellent. Guy's Burgers and the Pig and Anchor BBQ are always hits with our family. We enjoy the breakfast buffet in the morning but did find that the Ocean Plaza on the 5th Deck had a similar buffet and I didn't have to wait at all. I didn't eat anything that I didn't enjoy.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Some members of our group took advantage of the fitness center in the early morning. We played several of the outdoor games on board the ship. We enjoyed everything that we participated in.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The stage shows were outstanding. We really enjoyed the music in the piano bar and the Red Frog Rum Bar. The comedy shows were also very good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service staff was excellent. Our room was cleaned shortly after we went to breakfast everyday. The waiters in the dining room new all 12 names of the people in our group by the end of the first dinner. This made it very personal each night at dinner.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was well maintained and always clean. I never saw garbage anywhere and there were always people cleaning windows and wiping down tables.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had an inside cabin. It was small but comfortable. We didn't need much as the only thing we did there was sleep.
Ship tip
I would tell somebody that if you want breakfast on a day that you are in port you should go to the Ocean Plaza for the buffett. There was never a line and while the options were not the same as the Lido Marketplace it was still very good.
We enjoyed our time in Galveston. We arrived a day early and were able to spend some time there. We didn't realize that we would end up spending another 8 hours on embarkment day because of the fog. We still had a good time.
No excursion. One of the couples that we traveled with had been there before and the ladies wanted to do a little shopping. We took a cab downtown. It was an enjoyable day.
We took the Rum/Reggae/Jerk excursion. We had a great time. We went to Miss T's for early lunch of jerk chicken, curried goat and some vegetables. The next stop was at Margaritaville for some rum tasting and drink making. The third stop was at Scotchies for jerk chicken, jerk pork and some sort of corn bread. The food was very good. We managed to snag a couple of Red Stripes at the bar. The final stop was at a shop. I could have done without the shop but the rest of the trip was excellent.
