Review summary

This cruise was chosen based on the timing. While on this cruise, at approximately 12:30pm, I was walking along Deck 10 and slipped on some water and fell and hit my head on the right side!! I fell to the ground in excruciating pain and sustained a large knot on my head. I was treated on the scene by two registered nurses that were cruisers who in turn called for Security. Security came and called for Medical to come transport me to the Infirmary. Once I got to the Infirmary, I was treated by a nurse and advised to return at 3:00pm to be seen by the on board doctor. When I returned at 3:00pm to be seen by the doctor, I was told I had a suffered a concussion. I was given some aspirin by the nurse and nothing by the doctor. No x-ray was done nor any kind of tactile exam to my head to assess the size of the knot/bump on my head. I returned to my cabin still in pain and I never heard anything from the medical staff again. I did get a call from Guest Services, which I relayed to them I was still in pain and feeling nauseated, however, nothing was recommended. Upon my return home, I was seen and treated by my personal medical provider. I find this kind of neglect by Carnival applauding and disgusting!!! I provided both the nurse and doctor my medical history, coupled with my age, I should have been provided better care than what I was provided!!! As a result of the fall, I was not able to enjoy the remaining amenities I had purchased with the physical fitness center. When I did go back, I became ill and had to leave and never did return. To date, I have not heard anything from Carnival regarding my status or well-being. Also, while on the cruise, I had the WORST massage ever...the massage was given by Marilou. I repeatedly told her I was cold and at no time did she attempt to warm up the room or provide me with extra blankets to keep me warm. As a result, I was NOT able to enjoy the massage at all. I strongly feel I should be reimbursed for the massage and my physical fitness fees be prorated since I was not able to use them after the fall on the fourth day. Food throughout the ship was overall terrible!!! There wasn't anything opened other than pizza 24 hours and the food and services in the Horizon was absolutely terrible!! Never before have I been on a ship where passengers had to pay for so many extra food services (Shakes, desserts, coffee, etc). Servers did not give the Carnival type of service!! Food was passed to you vs placed before you!! Food was tasteless, not hot and portions were extremely small. Entertainment was off the hook!!! Matt and Crew did an awesome job of providing great entertainment. The movies were great...the popcorn needs to be improved, like using a better oil and some popcorn salt/butter!!! Our Cabin Steward was very attentive. Did not like nor appreciate Vonya selling books that were basically outdated and did not save shoppers anything....this was $25.00 wasted or basically stolen!! However, I would NOT recommend VISTA not will I travel VISTA unless there is some positive resolution to all that I endured on this cruise. I am a seasoned cruiser...both to Carnival and other cruise lines!!

This is why people dont give feedback.....all of the terrible comments.....how would you like it if it had been you. People should learn to appreciate the response from each cruiser....

I totally understand where they are coming from. The other day I was reading a pamphlet on new Chevy trucks when I suddenly choked on some bacon. I was quickly given the heimlich by a part time shoe salesman, who was able to dislodge the food particle from my esophagus. I still had 2 pieces of bacon left but was not in any shape to finishing chewing them with any of the enjoyment I often get from pork products. On top of that I was flabbergasted that no one from Chevy called to see if I was still interested in a truck, and I'm a seasoned pamphlet reader.

1-Coffee is always free unless you want specialty coffees. 2- obviously you are a very picky eater. There are always lines to eat throughout the ship. 3- If you didn't like the food, why complain about the serving size? 4- You could have ordered multiple entrees! Finally if you want something to eat after hours other than pizza, there is 24-hour room service, but you probably wouldn't have liked that either

I would have loved to see other cruise reviews from this person, maybe they just made this account to bash the cruise line. And there isn’t much more to do for a concussion then what was done for you.

My daughter suffered concussions in gymnastics. There isn't anything that can be done except what the ship did for you. It takes time to get better. Most ships don't offer many food options after midnight. You received a massage, so why would they refund you. There are so many passengers on a ship, that I wouldn't expect them to check on you after you were seen.

SparkleGee first I would to say I sorry about your fall and hope everything is well with you. You also stated that you are a seasoned cruiser with no past cruises listed in your profile, unless I missed it. Now you experience a lot for a person with a concussion, I sailed the Vista last March and will be sailing her again in 107 days. Now my cruise last March was not so great either. I got sick the 3rd day of our 7 day cruise and couldn't leave my cabin. The Vista crew was great they checked on me every day all doing the day, so much that they kept waking me up. Which was alright with me, I had room service which was great, I was celebrating my 42nd anniversary and thought I had ruined it for my wife. Carnival offered me another cruise that following Just to the Mexican Riviera, my wife and I never been. We only had to pay the taxes for a 7 day cruise on the Splendor and we had the best time of our life, I even experienced a banana boat, which for a 60 year old was very interested. Again I apologize for your vacation, but Carnival and the Vista was great to us and the food was good also, not ad bad as you say. Then again we all have our expectations and taste, some more than others. Good luck on your next cruise and may God be with you. Happy Holiday to all.

There isn't much that can be done for a concussion other than taking acetaminophen (Tylenol), rest, and an ice pack to help reduce the swelling of the bump on your head. I'm sorry this happened to you, but I don't know what more they could have done
