Was excited about going on the Vista (new ship to the Galveston port). Total disappointment! Will try not to book any more cruises on this ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Arrived at the appointed time and walked straight into the ship. Very easy process with no "holding" area.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Did not try a specialty restaurant; food was good on the buffets and in the main dining room.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Did not like the Vista. Felt like it was all closed in. No atrium with glass elevators. Elevators were very slow and felt smaller than other ships. The layout is confusing. Did not like the spa area. The nice warm lounge chairs are in the same room as the hot tub (note: no "therapy" pool in this ship). This hot tub is VERY small compared to the "therapy" pools on the other ships. Cannot relax on the warm lounge chairs due to the noise coming from the hot tub and people who are in the hot tub talking very loud. Not impressed at all.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Went to the adult Comedy show because the timing for the other "family" show overlapped from our dinner hour; not impressed with the performer.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff on this ship were exceptional. Stayed on top of cleaning tables as soon as they noticed you had stopped eating. Liked the fact that you can tell your cabin steward what time (if any) you'd like your room cleaned on a daily basis.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
Did not like the set up of this ship. We tried looking for the IMAX Theater. It was well hidden unless you catch the correct elevator. If not, you will wind up walking down long hallways with rooms on either side until you get to the theater. Not impressed at all.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Loved having a balcony and our cabin steward.
Ship tip
You'd be impressed if this was your first cruise. For "seasoned" cruisers, it is a huge disappointment. Expecting a large lobby area with glass elevators; this one doesn't have it.
Elevators are very small. Although they had dedicated elevators that were suppose to take you from your floor to the disembarkment floor, these elevators were extremely slow. Once you were able to get on an elevator, though, it was a very fast process disembarking the ship. NOTE: This is the first year that they did not have a dedicated line at customs for those with passports. This was a disappointment.
