This cruise did what it was supposed to do. The ship was clean and the staff was helpful and co-operative. The ship was clumsy to get around for us and seemed to be too crowded.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Faster than usual.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was good and adequately served, though getting past long waiting times outside of regular dining was a problem.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Shows were great. IMAX should be free though. Open spaces were too congested. The main and rear pools were too small and always crowded. The open area mid-ship also seemed to be too small. Smoking areas were clumsy at best.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Performers in the Liquid Lounge were very talented and wonderful to experience. Three female violinists in mid-ship were also good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All staff was very helpful all of the time. The service was polite and courteous all the time.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
I had a rear stateroom on Deck 8. I found myself walking long distances and sometimes on the wrong deck as well to get to somewhere I wanted to go. It appeared to me that everything was too cluttered for the amount of people on the ship to enjoy themselves.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was 8461, last cabin on the starboard side of the ship. It was well laid out and kept very clean.
Ship tip
The cruise had great destinations and Carnival was OK, but the layout (or lack of one) on the Carnival Vista makes it a poor Carnival option.
Shore excursion involved riding horses along a beach and into the water and finally tubing down a river. The horse riding was wonderful. The tubing started off great and then finally left us feeling vulnerable when it was over.
I waited on deck 5 as directed for more than one hour. Decks 1 and 2, and then decks 14, 13, 12, and 11 were called. Finally getting disgusted, we just disembarked. I saw it becoming a free-for-all. Carnival needs to remember that Royal Caribbean also sails from the same port to the same destinations. They might want to consider that when they design their next ship.
