Review summary

We probably will not go out of Galveston again. We had to wait over 2 hours in line in the rain to board the ship do to some problem with the gangplank. We were never informed of what the problem was. I called Carnival customer service after standing in line forever and they did not know anything but they did put me on hold and check to see what the issue was. That is when I was informed about the gangplank People had not eaten lunch with the plan of eating once the had boarded so everyone was thirsty and starving. The vending machines were running out of snacks and people were ordering food from Waiter.com and having it delivered to them while the waited in line.

Food is plentiful but nothing special. Everything tasted fine but all basically tasted the same.

pool was too small. I used the fitness center and it was good.

Service and Staff

The only experience we had that wasn't exceptional was with a staff member named Char. She was on deck ) when we disembarked in for the water shuttle and she made some smart comment to us because we were holding our water shuttle tickets in our hand and had not stuck them on our clothing. It was kinda of a rush getting out to the little boat and we just hadn't thought to do it. She said something about it to us and so we immediately went to put them on and she made a smart comment about it being a little late for that now. A day or two later she was leading the trivia and she tried to be funny but she really wasn't.

I the middle of a show the water stopped draining so we called housekeeping. It took a long time for someone to show up. We had just come from an excursion and were hot and sweaty and wanted to shower for dinner. After about 20 minutes we called again. They sent someone who went into the bathroom for about 5 minutes and came back out and said it was working. We started showering again and again it stopped draining. We called housekeeping again and no one ever came. After 30 minutes when no one had come, we would start taking a shower and when the water filled the bottom, we would turn the water off and wait until it drained and then turn it on again and continue our shower. After all of us finished and dressed for dinner we called housekeeping again and informed them that no one had ever come and we were going to dinner and would they please come while we were out and make the repair. When we got back to the room after dinner the problem seemed to have been corrected and we did not have any more trouble.

Our cabin number was 2329 and our steward was Gunter. He was great. After the trouble with our shower he apologized and provided exception service.

I've only done three cruiselines; but it seems like ALL of them do a lousy job in sharing information like this

Unfortunate that you had a long wait. We had the same problem in New Orleans. They couldn't get the returning passengers off do to the problems they were having with the gang plank. We was in line for about 2 or 3 hours and had people leaving and going to get food. Wasn't a Happy time, but didn't blame Carnival for mechanical problems. Just glad they fixed it before getting under way.

Sorry it was a bad experience. No fun waiting hours in line (and I’ve done it before). I hope it’s better when I cruise in July.

Just wondering what the problem was with the gang plank. Was it too short? Did the ship not get close enough to let people on? Or was it too long and we're people tripping over it? Would really like to know what the problem would be for waiting 2 hours in the rain. There's a lot of room in that terminal to get out of the rain.
