Great trip overall. Perfect weather and a great itinerary. Ship was nice for a Carnival ship (we prefer Royal Caribbean). We loved staying close to the debarkation point and will definitely do that again.
Embarkation

We used Dolphin parking and had to wait for over 30 minutes until the bus was full to be taken to the ship. We missed our check in tine by 1 minute and missed being expedited. There was a longer than usual wait for boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
This was our favorite buffet and Lido deck of the 4 carnival ships we have been on. The sandwich shop that’s open late was especially nice. The main dining room was a little disappointing with low ceilings and it just seemed more casual that others. The food was good but not as good or creatively presented as we have experienced with Carnival.
Onboard Activities

The Sky Rider and Sky Course were fun! Slides were nice too. The fitness center was ok and there’s a really nice relation room and spa room but you ha e to stay on spa deck to use them. We were disappointed that the new IMAX theaters were such a large charge. It feels like too many things were an upsell or extra fee.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
4 shows: Amor Cubano, America Rocks, Club VIP and Flick. All well done. Flick may be the most imaginative thing I’ve ever seen outside of broadway it was just incredible. The Latin beats band and the electric violins were also wonderful.
Service and Staff

Great service from wait staff as always. Overall good.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
For a newer ship this left a little to be desired. There was basic cleaning issue and glasss or trash left in corners stayed there all week in a few spots.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Slightly larger than expected which was nice. It had an extra 2 feet in length and the sofa was longer than we’ve had with Carnival. Again for a newer ship it was a little disappointing in that we had an obviously broken door on the dresser and a few other easy cosmetic fixes that were apparently overlooked. Staying on the first floor is a definite again though we were literally first off at all ports and first back to our rooms with all of our souvenirs. Didn’t bug us having to walk or take the elevator everywhere else.
Ship tip
It may be too windy for the slides, sky rider or sky course at sea so when they’re open go for it. They were only available 1 1/2 of our 3 days and apparently that’s normal.
The food is incredible and the water is stunning! Didn’t really enjoy the constant offers of rum and weed everywhere but as soon as we got out in nature we loved it. Nice port we will go again. We rode horseback in the ocean then tubed the river. Both were wonderful.
Most incredible place I’ve ever been. Absolutely stunning water, wonderful people and overall an amazing day. We did a lot - we went to stingray city with Captain Marvin’s, saw “hell” (not worth it) and visited the sea turtle hatchery. Great great day. Best snorkeling ever.
Glad you had a good cruise. I’ve only cruised with Carnival, but have thought about trying Royal. What are some differences between the two cruise lines?
