Review summary

We had a fantastic time! From a wheelchair perspective, the newer ship was definitely much better with regard to access. Carnival has done a great job in this department. Any future cruises I take, I'll definitely be considering the ship's age.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Overall, it went smoothly. The only downside was parking & getting into the terminal. It was crazy & could definitely be more organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall, it was good. Fahrenheit 555 was outstanding! The specialty restaurants were good as was the Main Dining room. Plenty of food for even the pickiest eater!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was so much to do we didn't have enough time! The on-board shows were good & packed, so arrive early to get a seat. There was something for everyone!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The theatre shows were good, musicians varied & comedy shows outstanding! Be sure to arrive early to get a seat if it's something you really want to do!

Service and Staff

Everyone we met was pleasant, courteous & helpful and always smiling. They truly enjoy what they do & were happy to be in Galveston.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a wheelchair accessible cabin, since I use one full-time. I was perfect for me & my needs. Plenty of room for my manual chair. A little narrow between the bed & desk, but the bed can be moved against the wall. The bathroom was excellent with lots of space to navigate & great bar locations.

Ship tip

Avoid Lido Deck, since that's where most people go to eat. The rest of the ship is fantastic & not over crowded.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

They definitely could use help with flow and organization. With so many people at one time, it's critical especially with regard to parking and directing people.

Montego Bay, Jamaica Did not visit port

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
The people were very friendly & helpful. The water taxis worked well even with being in a wheelchair. Only one the return trip, did we find the staff to be unfriendly.

Cozumel, Mexico

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
From Carnival, it was excellent & well run. The Galveston Port needs work on flow & organization. More signs & directions regarding luggage pickup would be helpful. We were stepping in front of people & had a difficult time locating our luggage. The staff weren't helpful at all.
