We had a great time on our 1st cruise and will probably cruise again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
This was our 1st cruise and we weren't sure what to expect... Considering that they were down to 1 gangway to board the ship, the experience was not as bad as expected. All in all, not the worst experience
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was good and varied. Tried "new to me" foods and enjoyed them and would order them again. Our service staff was excellent, Oscar, Kenneth and Horam were there to greet us at the table and were very attentive, and brought our usually beverages without us having to order them.
Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse
5 out of 5
The steakhouse experience was as advertised. The steak was cooked to perfection, the caesar salad was nice an garlicky. We had the Art at the Table for dessert and the chef made it an experience to remember. The service staff was excellent during the entire meal. For me, it's a must (I'm a wee bit of a carnivore)
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We attended one of the comedy shows, which kept us laughing the entire time. The rock show in the Liquid Lounge was well done, highly energetic and had songs I remember from my much younger days.
Children's Programs
No kids!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our waiters, Oscar, Kenneth and Horam, in the dining room were excellent. Very attentive, funny and informative when we asked questions. If something was not to our liking, they always asked if we'd like something else and the new dish was brought out promptly.
Our room Steward, I Made, and his staff kept our room made up and created the famous towel animals each night.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship design was easy to follow (for the most part) - had to navigate around the casino and the smoke a couple times.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was clean when we arrived and setup the way it was requested (as a king bed instead to 2 twins) and was well maintained by the staff. The room as a little on the small size, but that didn't cause any issues.
Ship tip
Tour it on the first day to get a lay of the land and use the "you are here" info spots around the elevators.
Did the 3 hour Behind the Walls walking tour and our tour guide Neomi was wonderful. She provided alot of information during the tour, explaining as she went. It was a lot of walking but I would recommend it to anyone.
We did the snorkeling w/free drinks excursion. Although we did not see many sea creatures (wife wanted to see the sea turtles), it was a great experience.
Beautiful place, but they are still recovering from the hurricanes. Some buildings still have boarded up windows and damaged roofs. They are building new shops that look like they would fair better in a hurricane. We didn't do an excursion here, just spend time shopping (lots of shops open) and on the beautiful beach. Duty free store has some nice deals on booze!
Disembarkation was OK. The only comment is that it is nearly impossible to get an elevator during the process. Because we had an early flight we had to carry all of our bags down 8 flights of stairs.
I’ve cruised on the Magic twice and disembarking was a snap and we were on the road by 10:30. Cruised on the Valor and it was a horrible and chaotic experience. I’m wondering if now we should take our time and lounge around until they lock us off.
Debarkation was the 1 thing I hated about the Vista. I think the main problem is that people don’t want to wait until they are called. Everybody just decides to go when they want to. After waiting for a long time for an elevator, when we got downstairs we couldn’t get out of the elevator because that area was so crowded nobody could move!! If people just followed instructions it would have been so much easier.
