Review summary

If you are a family of 5, definitely try this cruise & stay in the harbor suites. Other cruises will divide you into 2 rooms or put you in a suite which costs way more. The harbor suites are economical and the convenience and comfort of the room and lounge mad3 the trip extremely comfortable for us.

Embarkation

The suite entitled us to early embarkation & we were able to bypass the lines

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
our Sit down dinners were so so, as was the lido marketplace. We paid extra for the Italian restaurant one night, which was also mediocre and took way too long to dine. I did love the variety of other places to eat, though. The deli n the marketplace made amazing paninis, and the Mexican, pizza, bar b que and burger stops were fantastic & provided lots of variety not found on other cruises. The couple we sailed with ate at the steakhouse one night and said it was fantastic, too.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of pools and fun stuff for the kids. We enjoyed the ropes course and sports area immensely

Children's Programs

Fantastic- although the hours could have been better. They open at 6, and you drop your kids off in the marketplace if you want them to feed them that evening. Opening at 4 or 5 would be better, it would give adults time to get ready for dinner in peace and actually be able to make their 6:00 dinner seatings. Everything else was great, though, our kids had a blast- including our 2 year old.

Service and Staff

Everyone was very nice but our room Stewart kept forgetting to replace cups, glasses & pool towels. He would also show up at inconsistent hours.

Cabin / Stateroom

We were in family harbor suite 2415. It was huge, as was the balcony- by far the biggest cruise room we have stayed in, very comfortable for a family of 5. We were almost directly across from the lounge- which was also wonderful. We had breakfast there every morning, the boys would play on the play stations with the other kids- enabling us to relax a bit. In the afternoon they served snacks, sandwiches and chips, and milk, coffe, water and tea were available 24/7.....very convenient when traveling with a 2 year old who drink milk all the time.

Ship tip

Definitely take advantage of the suite areas- the suite and lounge made the trip 10 times more enjoyable and convenient for us, and we enjoyed everything that much more.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Sailing out of the port of Miami is horrible....there are no porters to help with bags, everything is disorganized and the parking decks are ridiculous. That’s not carnivals fault but, if possible, cruise out of port canaveral or.....anywhere else.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Left the port, grabbed a taxi & went to Dunn falls. Beat out the excursion groups in doing so....definitely worth doing

George Town, Grand Cayman

Grabbed a taxi to 7 mile beach, which had bathrooms, a restaurant, and chairs you could rent. I’ve also heard good things about the turtle farm.

Cozumel, Mexico

Rented the crappiest Jeep Wrangler ever and drove around the island....wonderful! Stopped at a restaurant next to the Intercontinental and had lunch....great day!

Disembarkation

This was the worst part of the cruise. We were told to meet at the liquid lounge at 8:45 am. We finally got off the ship at 11:00- they never even called our disembarkement group so we just went for it. Then port of Miami nonsense.....we finally got on the road at noon.
