Carnival Vista

6 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 04, 2018

Ship: Carnival Vista

Cabin type: Oceanview

Cabin number: 2248

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

No photos on cruise bc photographer wanted us to pay $249 for the 1st 2 and then $199 for 3-5, etc. Prices for photographs were unreasonable. Wait time on restaurant was inefficient bc of non working pagers and unorganization, not safe for toddlers, and no activities for toddlers either.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was not that impressive, just okay.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Nothing for toddlers. They wouldn't even allow toddlers to play in the splash pad where the stand up and run around in the water.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Last carnival.cruise the dancers and shows were much more entertaining. Dancers were okay, not what I would deem professional.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
They had zero activities for an 1.5 yr old. Not allowed on sash pad in pool area, not allowed on small children's slides, no pool available for them, etc. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Nothing for toddlers to do unless they were 2 yrs old and potty trained.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room was to be decorated upon arrival with paid for decorations, gift, and cake for a surprise.....and the surprise was on me! None were there!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
We had to wipe down our room and we wiped down some grime upon arrival!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Was not cleaned /wiped down/sanitized properly. We wiped down tables and desks, etc and got alot of grime.

Ship tip

Wait until your child is potty trained and over 2 or else there is nothing they can so activity wise. Also, my child slipped on there slippery floor and his head hit a stair on the edge and he busted it open, we had to run to ships medical to check for possible concussion and stitches! It was awful!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Cozumel, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman. No excursions w kiddos...I guess they were too young.

I paid $399 for a golden poopoo toilet there

This is truly something I would do with older children but even then I would not expect them to cater to all ages.

Carnival has some of the best kids programs at sea!

That doesn't surprise me we had the same issue on freedom. That I way we didn't go last year. But from researching other ships I would take a toddler on Allure rc or Disney. They are more geared for toddlers

cant they wear swim diapers? i really would never take a toddler on a cruise.

Traveling with a child in diapers is hard. They aren’t allowed in the ‘water’ areas due to that and I get it. There’s just too much chance of getting others sick. We traveled with our granddaughters and researched beforehand so we knew the drill for the younger one in diapers so we weren’t surprised by it.

Perhaps you should have done your research on activities for toddlers before booking.

That's crazy I've only paid around $21 A picture on formal night. Which pictures did they try to charge you this much for?
