Review summary

We enjoyed the cruise but we were disappointed that the lounges didn't have dance music at night. The only dancing we could find was in the Havana Bar which we do not latin dance.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It looked like mass confusion but once we left our luggage we got in the long long line of passengers. We moved through quite quickly. The card passes being in our room is new since our last Carnival cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We found that there was limited selection on the menu in the main dining room compared to our last Carnival cruise. The buffet was downsized as well. There wasn't much variety of fresh fruit.

Redfrog Pub and Brewery

4 out of 5

This was the best we found on the ship. Small but comfortable. The bar staff were very friendly and efficient.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We found the Serenity deck suited us best. It was relaxing and the hot tubs were great. It was away from the loud music and pool noise. We went to some quiz games. Some were better than others. We visited the shops but found them to be quite expensive.

Photo Gallery

4 out of 5

We found the new digital screens very user friendly and easy to use. We liked the viewing feature from your cabin on the TV.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The opening night and the Rock America shows were our favourites.

Liquid Lounge

2 out of 5

We found that the new layout wasn't an improvement. Unless you were in a front seat you couldn't see the stage especially in the balcony. The glass panels were difficult to see through and the spaces between them are very distracting.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The wait staff in the main dining room were okay some better than others. But found that if you didn't like what you ordered you weren't offered to order something else. The room steward did his job but didn't go above and beyond and didn't try to engage in any conversation.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Found it very cut up with small lounges. The outside deck areas for sitting or lounging were great. There were lots of spots to sit. Some areas were cleaner than others. The staircase in the lobby area needed to be cleaned on the stairs the glass was never clean. The washrooms were very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We found the bed very comfortable. There was just two of us so there was plenty of room for all our things.

Ship tip

If you are looking for a family ship. The Vista is the one for you. Deck 2 with the Family Harbour is great for families.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
We loved this port because you just walked off the ship and onto the beach. Very easy access.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We took the train through the city. It was a good way to see how people live and sight see. We liked the market place at the landing. Good variety to choose from.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
We took the bus tour to the Curacao distillery, caves and museum. We found it a very good tour. The guide was excellent.

Oranjestad, Aruba

4 out of 5
We liked that we could just walk off the ship and up to the main street. We went to the market on the main street and stopped for a snack and cold drink.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We found it quick and efficient. No issues.

Our last carnival magic cruise was very disappointing on that note.
