Review summary

We had a great time during our cruise.  The ship is awesome. Food was good but can improve with more options to choose from during dinner time.  One thing I would like to suggest is that the "No smoking" area in the casino be enforced.  Even though they have a section for no smoking, it is not enforced and people smoke there.

A downfall, was that we did not stop at Curacao due to weather conditions and the only thing we got reimbursed were port charges (7.00).  When we traveled on the Princess, we failed to stop at a port and each passenger received a credit of $150.00.  Carnival should be more thoughtful and provide its passenger with an adequate compensation.

When we missed a port due to Liberty's propulsion issue, we got to overnight in Cozumel (which was a blast), got $25 OBC, and got a 25% off a future cruise. Since the change was announced in advance of the cruise, guests also had the option of cancelling without penalty.

Paradise has a ship speed issue, no refunds but gave OBC $25 PP. Maybe they changed their policy. Sucks you get stuck but safety comes first in certain instances.

cappie, was your missed port due to a weather issue? If so, read your cruise contract. No refunds (except for port fees.) (Now, if it was a ship issue, they will offer one or more of several methods of compensation.)

We missed cura§ao few weeks ago. Wish they would if just gave us a discount on future cruise everyone wins.

I agree a refund is doable. I was scheduled on the Dream back in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy. We didn't get our stop and got short one night. They reimbursed us. I have been rerouted before with no refund too. Policy may have changed.

vwicker they generally can't relocate because the cruise contracts for ports are established 1-3 years in advance. Occasionally a ship can get to a port that might have room for them, but usually not.

Wow that sucks!! How come they didn't relocate?

Likely different circumstances and maybe a few years ago. Weather is beyond their control and if you read the contract they don't guarantee there won't be route changes at their discretion.

Carnival is not going to refund because of a weather issue; you cruise this time of year, you take your chances. I'm stunned Princess did as you say, especially since it is owned by the carnival group. Carnival WILL refund or give future cruise credit for ports missed due to a ship issue.
