Review summary
- I loved the experience of so many activities to participate on, while on the ship, while having places to visit.
- lots of options for food & drink. Bar service was a bit slow, but I recognize that this is due to so many mixed/blended drinks being made. Suggestion 1 - premixed lime & strawberry mix for the regularly ordered items (eg Lone Star). Suggestion 2 - a beer only stand to get the beer drinkers served quickly, but also out of the way of the patrons ordering blended drinks.
- Our restaurant (Horizons) staff was super friendly and very professional, but I found drink and food service to be slow. My inlaws confirmed that it was much slower than on their previous cruises.
- Camp Ocean staff was fantastic with our kids, and so many others!
- Our room steward (and team) were phenomenal!
- checkin process went very smoothly
- Disney has "bracelets" that allow you to electronically charge items to your room (handing over cards on lanyards for drink purchases seemed to slow the order process down.) I recognize that a conversion of this style would be a huge undertaking for the size of ships we are talking about.
- my family of four found it a bit tricky to store all of our items in the room, but I recognize that we might have packed slightly differently to accommodate it better.
- we did not leverage the Cheers program - has a "joint account" approach been looked at for families? (eg 15 drink maximum per day, but shared between the adult guests in the same room?)
- the photos (Pixels) were extremely overpriced. $15 USD for a single picture (digital copy), is outrageous. I told my wife that if the prices were $2 per picture, I would probably have ordered 10 pictures = $20. At the current pricing, I did not consider even a single picture. We live in a digital world - while there are lower processing costs, I understand that there are technology costs to provide the quick access to their pictures via the kiosks as well as portable devices. The patrons with money might not change their purchasing habits, but for price conscious families, I am suggesting that people would likely order more VOLUME if the pricing was more appropriate.
- Dive in Movies was a bit hit with our family.
- I researched the arcade, and found that there were few video games, and a lot of ticket based reward games. Not sure if there is enough feedback to Carnival on this to warrant changing it, or if I'm in the minority.
- Great enthusiasm and great atmosphere from everyone on the ship - kudos to the fun teams and staff for making it this way.
- very easy, quick, professional and FRIENDLY staff handling guests as they enter and exited from the ship at each port.
- I'm sure that it's relayed by many before me, and I know that Carnival states their policy on "saving" lounge chairs, but it was frustrating to find seats. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution or suggestion, but finding seats on the deck was difficult.
- I watched a couple of videos about the Vista before we boarded, and found out a bit about their water exchange, and filtration, and HVAC etc etc.... is that anything HOT on the ship, that could transfer that heat to the pools? They were a bit past "refreshing" and into "chilly", temperature wise....
While I may have mentioned a handful of things that I didn't like, I can tell that a lot of planning & review goes into running "cities" of these size, and all-in-all, it ran seamlessly. Well done!
