Review summary

we met two cast members from the dance show (kiley good, martin tate-potts) very nice kids and the most helpful people on the ship. the cruise seemed overbooked, it was crowded, long lines for the horrible cafeteria food, and long lines for a drink. we had to wipe our own table to be able to eat at it!!! i paid for the (faster to the fun pass) we only benefitted from it on embarkation in miami. when you arrive at a port and embark after your visit at a port the pass is not honored. you wait in loooong lines to board again!!!! the second night out is when the real tragedy occurred. a poor young man who was obviously over served alcohol fell overboard at about 3 am. man overboard was announced on the intercom throughout the ship. the young mans body was not recovered. my wife and i were so upset for the young man, his family, and friends. my wife cried a few times throughout the remainder of this horrible cruise. we were held at that location for approximately 24 hours searching for him. the coast guards were also searching. the remainder of the cruise was suspended. we were slowly taken back to the port of miami to our scheduled arrival on friday. my wife had a small dollar amount winning in the casino, and that was even horrible!!! when we were at the airport in miami she went to buy a water. turns out that a $20.00 that she was given by the cashier was counterfeit!! we took pictures in their studio, and one of the overpriced pictures in the package was damaged on our flash drive. it cant even be printed!!! i think i heard as a reimbursement for this tragedy they announced a 20% discount for a future cruise, LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN FOR US!!!!! this was the most horrific experience i've ever had in my life.  my wife and i were so excited to go on our first cruise too. we now know how bad things can go!!! im so sorry to tell it like it is, but if this helps someone think about things that could go horribly wrong before you book then so be it!!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
fly to key west. you dont get to enjoy much of it if you have to go back to the ship to wait in a long line to get back on. six hours isnt enough time to tour this beautiful destination.

Cozumel, Mexico

we didnt make it to cozumel. the cruise was suspended. due to the tragedy at sea.

I'm sorry you had a bad first cruise but after cruising 26 times I can assure you your experience isn't the norm. I would take the 20% and give it another try. perhaps you had unrealistic expectations, not the cruise line's fault that there was a tragedy that ruined your cruise experience. as a previous post said, it would be very hard to"fall" overboard although I'm sure anything could happen. FYI: f2f doesn't mean you jump every line

this review seems late or did this just happen again?

Sorry it was so terrible for you, however, a person does not just fall overboard. They either commit suicide if drink to much and do stupid things. This is not carnivals fault. The food and lines are, but you went during spring break, it's to be expected. We've cruised many times, we make the most out of what we're given. It's time away. Cruising isn't for everyone.
