Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
If you didn't like what was on the menu in the dining room then you were stuck with the same choices from that menu in the buffet line. If you missed the buffet (seemed to close up at 6pm) then you were stuck with hamburgers or pizza and the lines for those were excessively long and slow moving. They claimed to have a Mississippi BBQ and there were even signs for it but it was never to be found. The sushi was HORRIBLE. We never got to try the Chinese food window because the line was either too long or it was closed. The sandwich window was good as usual. Pizza was ok but always undercooked. Probably due to the demand since the buffet closed so early.

Entertainment

Shows were lame. The male lead singer really could not sing. Shows were laughable at best. The comedian (Allyn Ball) was the only bright spot.

Service and Staff

Standard. Karl the cruise director is fun. He was assistant director on our first cruise many years ago.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Older ship so some things are to be expected. Layout is tough to get used to.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our stateroom was covered in dust when we checked in. The shelves where the glasses were was coated in dust and so were the glasses. The refrigerator was't working either. We saw our steward on the first day then never again unless we called him with a problem. We usually see our steward at least once a day and he asks if there are any problems.

Ports of call

Roseau, Dominica

You are better off booking an excursion. We took a cab to Mero Beach...a black sand beach. It was dirty, had no food or drinks to speak of and we were hounded constantly by vendors.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Spent the day at Cockleshell Beach. It had taken a good hit from the hurricane so it was a little dirty but it was nice.

Castries, St. Lucia

Beautiful Island. Got some rain here as well. Had to cut out beach time short.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Always a good port. We took a cab to Sapphire Beach. It was gorgeous.
Don't Miss: Sapphire Beach

Bridgetown, Barbados

We got rained out on this port. Took a cab to Mount Gay Distillery and by the time we pulled up it was raining buckets with booming thunder and lightning.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Loved this port. We went to Dawn Beach to snorkle but a storm blew in and we had to sit in the bar for 2 hours waiting on our cab to come back. he dropped us off downtown for shopping. We enjoyed that area alot. Walked the main street then hit the public beach which is right next to it until we had to go back to the ship. Good drinks along the beach plus its free and very close to the ship.
Don't Miss: Take the water taxi next to the port over to the public beach. You can do your shopping there and also enjoy the clear waters and white sand for free.

Pros: Ports were great

Cons: Ship amenities were lacking
