Review summary

Our recent cruise on the Carnival Victory was a delight from beginning to end. This was our first cruise on Carnival, amd we were very pleased from the check-in process to the debarkation - and every day in between. We traveled with our daughter and son-in-law, and loved the mix of age groups on the ship. Each evening, after a fabulous dinner in the dining room, we could go off to the cigar bar and listen to jazz for awhile, and they could pick one of the dance clubs to enjoy. We all reassembled for the variety of shows, games, etc. that kept the nights fun! Rarely did we go back to our stateroom until 1 AM - and that is not what we do at home!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dining venues were limited, but the dining room was wonderful for breakfast and dinner.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
So much to do that it was hard to decide what kind of fun to have. Activities director was engaging, and the scheduled events had broad appeal.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendliest and most competent staff we have encountered. Everyone was on their game. Room steward did an amazing job of keeping the room clean, the ice bucket full, and fresh beach towels available daily!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Victory was kept in excellent condition, easy to access all common areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an inside room that was spacious, well-layed out, with more than enough storage. Sleeping was cool, quiet, and dark which we loved!

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
A beautiful port that we will return to again for an extended stay. We did, despite the ships warning, rent a motor scooter, and I would not recommend it. Even as veteran bikers the roads were narrow, steep, and winding - lots of potholes! Combine that with driving on the left, and it did not make for an opportunity to enjoy the scenery and ambiance of St. Thomas. The shopping was great!
Don't Miss: The catamarran sailing and snorkeling excursiion was amazing.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Very nice shopping opportunities by the port for last minute gifts!

St. John's, Antigua

This had to be our favorite island, and we never set foot on the land. We took a shore excursion on the Excellence, a large power boat that cruised around the entire island. We stopped at beaches, swam, snorkeled, and ate a wonderful lunch prepared right on the boat. The crew was exceptional, the bar was open throughout, and the music was great! This excursion was 6.5 hours, so we returned to the ship happy, tan, and tired!

Bridgetown, Barbados

Lots to see on this beautiful island. Don't miss eating some flying fish, breadfruit pudding, and macaroni pie!

Castries, St. Lucia

We took a taxi to Pigeon Point, a beach that was unspoiled and very reasonable. A real surprise was the quality of the beach front restaurant and bar. The water was warm, calm, and crystal clear.

Pros: A different port of call everyday kept everyone happy

Cons: Buffet on Lido was sometimes very crowded
