All in all in was just a good cruise not a great one, the HUB which is the center for everything did not work all the time because it dropped Wi-Fi constantly, the added gratuities added 18% to everything, and I mean everything. They nickel and dime you to death, exp; $5.00 to use chat and most of the time it did not work. Why not just add all these charges to the cost of the cruise and most people would have a more enjoyable cruise.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
not great , long lines and very busy, not like Royal Caribbean from NJ, no lines
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
main dinning room was excellent as well as the specialty restaurants except the Italian one, the soda package was an additional expense
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
pools and pickle ball
Entertainment
5 out of 5
the entertainment both in the lounges and theatre were fabulous
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
main dinning room staff especially Naw and Mekar were fantastic, the room stewards were hit and miss, I paid for 4 rooms, my steward needed to be called a few time while my daughter had the same steward and he did everything no need to call example towels etc, and she was 2 cabins down. My roon was 6272 and hers was room was 6262.In addition, the steward in suite 7355 was great but he wasn't for my other booked room 7419. Needed to call him for towels etc. The room held 3 adults and he only serviced them as if there were only 2 people in the room. Terrible service.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
as always the ship is to long. and you must walk the length of the ship for food on one end and the other end for the theatre. The worst thing about this ship and design is the elevators. Its all digital and they change which elevator to use constantly, so your running back and forth with many other people, mostly you give up and use the stairs and it is difficult when you need a cane or walker. Concept was great but it did not work at all.; Also you need to be completely competent using your iPhone for anything, everything from menus to activities are only on the HUB App.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
the cabin is a good size and clean,
Ship tip
you must be proficient using an Iphone or you will be lost in everything, ie: menus, activities, drills etc. If you do not have an IPHONE do NOT book this ship.T
The website tells you what 18% gratuity will be added to. They aren't "nickel and dimeing" you. You also don't need a smart phone for most things. They have paper "Fun Times" that tell you the activities for each day. And in the restaurants and MDR you can ask for a paper menu.
The hub app needs to stay open on your phone to get notifications. And the quality of the wifi will depend on how many others are using it and weather.
Thanks for the review. Since you were concerned the ship was ' to long' and you mentioned RCL in the review. Freedom of the Seas is 1,111 feet in length. Venezia is 1,067 feet in length. For all purposes the same size.
