Review summary

We had 4 balcony cabins booked and were very disappointed with the overall service and facility areas, i.e. pools, hot tubs, loungers, and buffet. We made the best of what it was.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good in the main dining room. Guy's Burgers were excellent although the lines were long. The sandwich station had long lines and therefore only got to enjoy the reuben once. The lines in the Market place were very long. They were selective with the food choices and did not have bacon at breakfast daily. It was either pancakes or French toast, never both. The salad bar was minimal also. It was better to have breakfast at the brunch on the main dining room. Anah and Jennifer at the Frizzante Bar were personable and professional. Enjoyed them both. Anthony in the hero bar was entertaining and great! Otherwise very few staff going around to get you drinks while sitting in other areas. The quality of the food was overall enjoyable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Deal or no Deal was very crowded. Bingo as well and very unorganized in purchasing your cards. Long lines and no direction from staff as to what line was for bingo and what for Deal or no Deal cards. Trivia was very confusing with different color ships and when you can achieve a ship and when you could not, because they were on hold. Very poor communication between staff and participants. The staff at the rope course were wonderful and the course was challenging and fun for all.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers were good and all shows were enjoyable.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
The kids were not happy in the children's program at all. The were ages 14, 9 and 7. None wanted to spend time in their programs

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Waiters were not personable at all. They seemed very overworked. One even made faces at another table he was serving during brunch. Found the staff that were clean up in the marketplace the most pleasant. Anah and Jennifer at Frizzant Bar were excellent as well as Anthony at the Hero Bar.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The delivery of luggage seemed very disorganized.. we did not receive our luggage until after 7 pm. We had faster to the fun and should have received it well before 7 pm. The elevators were not in service while they were using them for luggage delivery. To get to deck 3 the Grand Canal restaurant you had to go up a floor and across and then down. There were not enough loungers near the pools and the 2 small pools were overcrowded and unsafe. There were children swimming and banging into others. Way too many people in the pools. The ship could not accommodate the amount of people on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Our cabin was above the smoking section and the balcony was like being in the smoking area. The consistent smell of pot smoke on the balcony and in the hall was terrible. It was very noisy on the balcony, due to it being over the smoking section on deck 5. The bed was very hard and not comfortable. There was ample storage areas in the room.

Ship tip

Be prepared to stand on line for food at all stations in the Marketplace. Also in order to enjoy the pools or hot tubs you have to be prepared to use them not during peak hours.

Ports of call

New York, New York

Very unorganized for embarkation. Also no porters to assist with luggage.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

We did a private van tour with Kevin and he was excellent.

Grand Turk Island

Lots to do in port, and very clean port.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Very unorganized. We rented a Clam Shell and they were down the end. No direction how to obtain them. We also rented a swim mat and had to walk a mile in the opposite direction and drag it down to the clam shell area. The food was a mile away from us, so no one down that end of the beach walked to the food area. Although you had the drink package it was not accepted at Half Moon Cay. I found it to be very unorganized and the staff not very friendly or helpful at all on the island

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was organized and prompt.
