Review summary

We booked the Venezia, excited to have another NYC cruise option. We were excited because carnival had been billing this as a new ship with new features. First off, it is NOT a new ship. It is an old Costa cruise lines ship that was refurbished. Everything on board was like brand new, everything clean, everything functional! (even the hot tubs which if you’ve ever been on a carnival cruise, you know they are never fully functional). That being said, the layout was just off. The lido deck is really disjointed. The activity areas on deck 15 were closed for 6 of our 8 days due to wind, which I get…you can’t control weather…but the layout of the areas made them unsafe, not the wind itself. And the serenity hot tubs are exactly that…bathtubs, not even seating in them to sit. You had grown adults all standing holding their drinks.

Ship tip

Don’t plan on spending a lot of deck time in the pools. The serenity spas are a joke and the outdoor pool will be crowded due to the lack of enough space
