Review summary

We booked the Venezia, excited to have another NYC cruise option. We were excited because carnival had been billing this as a new ship with new features. First off, it is NOT a new ship. It is an old Costa cruise lines ship that was refurbished. Everything on board was like brand new, everything clean, everything functional! (even the hot tubs which if you’ve ever been on a carnival cruise, you know they are never fully functional). That being said, the layout was just off. The lido deck is really disjointed. The activity areas on deck 15 were closed for 6 of our 8 days due to wind, which I get…you can’t control weather…but the layout of the areas made them unsafe, not the wind itself. And the serenity hot tubs are exactly that…bathtubs, not even seating in them to sit. You had grown adults all standing holding their drinks.

Ship tip

Don’t plan on spending a lot of deck time in the pools. The serenity spas are a joke and the outdoor pool will be crowded due to the lack of enough space

The Venezia is not old. She was built in 2019 for Costa and made her debut with sister line Carnival after completely being refurbished for the American market. She sailed for less than a year in the Chinese market.

Thanks for the review. What didn’t you like about the Lido deck? What was unsafe? I’ve been on the Vista class and thought the layout was fine.

We really like the Venezia. While some areas aren’t as large as other Carnival ships we found that this layout was very enjoyable

Thx for the review. Have been eyeing this ship but also have read a few complaints about layout. May have to move it down a few notches on the wanna go on cruise ship list.
