I would not recommend Carnival. We took about 20 cruises on other lines and unless you go on their newest ships they cut to many corners to be your best value.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Normal crowds for NY port. Equal to other lines times.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining rooms staff were great, food sometimes cold. Buffet breakfast has no staples like pancakes, waffles, or link sausage. Not acceptable on port days when time is important. These
are basics for breakfast. Pizza line was also ridiculously long and slow. They need to go by the slice not a whole pizza. One thing that stands out is the lack of table cloths in the main dining room, It takes all the elegance out of the dining on a cruise and gives you the feel of eating in a cheap diner. I can understand cutting costs and saving water, but I had to balance my silverware on my bread plate as to not placing them on a possibly unsanitary table. (low class)
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Not a lot to do during sea days other than trivia if you are into that. This makes for long sea days unless you bring your own entertainment. Indoor pool in the center of the ship was very cold and shaded, so sun was lacking to warm the area. Outdoor hot tubs were OK but very crowded.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Main theater is quite small for a large ship. Shows were boring unless you like to watch dance routines. No major production shows. Comics weren't very good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Dining room staff Rolando, Kella, Adi, Gavin, Ye, and all the rest were top notch. Thana, our stateroom attendant was also great. The cruise director was good but others looked like they would rather be somewhere else.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was well kept and easy to get around but smoke permeates all around the ship becaus the casino is in the center. They have a small non smoking casino which they should make smoking and make the other one non smoking.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Room is normal size with plenty of storage area. Beds are very hard but I asked Thana our room attendant for a mattress topper and she brought one right up. Room was clean and well maintained. She was great!
Ship tip
Bring plenty of your own entertainment. WIFI is real expensive and may not be an option for filling down time.
not buying this. I know for a fact carnival will always have pancakes, French toast or waffles for breakfast. they always have eggs (scrambled or hard boiled) can also get them how you like them at the omlette station. always have some sort of breakfast meat sausage, ham or bacon
