Review summary

My 19 year old daughter was in tears multiple times. My 21 year old son was so pissed off at times at the poor service and lines that he wanted to fly home on his own. After waiting on a line for burgers for 45 minutes, I was given hockey pucks and was told that is the only way they make the burgers (the day before however, that was not the case).

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Apparently, signing up for an embarkation time means nothing. We got there a little early (we were in the first embarkation timeslot) and we still had a line of hundreds in front of us. Worse than that, people were coming later than us and because they didn't check in their luggage first like we did, they were moved to the front of the line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
We did not do specialty dining. Some of the food was good, but the variety was disappointing; Venezia is an Italian ship that had little Italian food - and terrible pasta. The lines for the buffet, the Burger Joint, the Pizza, and the Deli were unbelievablly long at times. The one meal almost everyone praised was the prime rib, but a few pieces were 75% fat.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
We did some of the activities. I did enjoy using the fitness center. The pools were so busy that I was afraid to go in (I have back issues and couldn't risk getting hit/kicked). I enjoyed some of the trivia events, but even there they reused questions from one day to another.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I enjoyed MarQ and we all enjoyed the comedians. The DJ's were...ok.

Children's Programs

I didn't bring children.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
This was a mixed bag. A few I would highly rate; a few were abysmal especially at dinner. So many times orders were messed up or missing.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The design was generally nice - the Italian decor was nice but the ship did not feel that it was designed for 4000+ people.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was fine, and we enjoyed the balcony. We were able to share the balcony with our adult children who were in the next room.

Ship tip

I might give Carnival another try, but not Venezia - try another ship!!

Ports of call

New York, New York

1 out of 5
Embarkation was terrible, debarkation was terrible.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We enjoyed this port, for its shopping and for the beach excursion we had.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
My family loved this port, and had a great time at Margaritaville; I am taking back two stars because of the way I was treated. My food order was given to someone else and when I finally got my food 90 minutes later, it was the wrong order. They said I could get a refund and they will give me the food anyway but the refund has not posted yet and they did not give me any food!

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
I wish there was more shopping there but the beach was just awesome and the water was amazing. In true Venezia form, they did not have enough food and shut down early leaving many hungry.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Once again, people do not pay attention to assigned times and the crew didn't seem to care. It was absurd to have us outside of our rooms by 8:30 only to tie up the waiting areas like cattle being led to a slaughter.
