Despite non favorable weather... by BillMcCormack

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Valor

Despite non favorable weather and rough waters, we had a great time. The boat is a bit dated compared to many others, but still pretty nice overall. T.J. is a fantastic cruise director, and they provided a lot of fun for the kids in their various age assigned clubs.

Good times by LWilson74

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Valor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise, so we didn’t know what all to expect. Overall it was a great experience, it was just expensive. We look forward to going again, and will certainly be better prepared.

Had a great time on... by Texasmom22

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Valor

Had a great time on our cruise, 11/8-11/12! Fantastic weather. We don’t attend a lot of the onboard activities – we just chill on deck, on our balcony, in our room, or the dining room. :) Really nice and relaxing time. A cruise is all about what you make it - and about those Guy’s burgers! I guess because of the time of year the ship wasn’t crowded at all. A few tips – go to the steakhouse cooking demonstration the first sea day! It’s a short demo, but it has 4 courses of tasting samples! Soup, Salad, entrée, dessert. Excellent food. A tip for the dining room – if they have pasta as an entrée, I will get that as my appetizer (comes in a smaller portion). Maybe you can do this with other entrees as well, but I know for sure with the pasta. Great way to taste an entrée without ordering the full portion. Even after all the prep and research, I made a mistake with our 12-packs of cokes. I remembered packing them in a rolling bag before… so we just stuck them in our suitcases. Wrong! They were confiscated from our checked bags! So sad! As all good ShipMates know – you’re supposed to carry them on! Ugh. So we bought the Bubbles packages and it worked out just fine. My husband just missed his Diet Mt. Dew. Lol They also confiscated my travel fan! We’ve brought this before. It was a plug-in item, and they called it an “iron” on the paper. It wasn’t an iron! I don’t bring any appliances. But if you’re bringing a fan, maybe go for battery-powered or they may take it. Ship Valor is very similar to the other ships (Liberty, Freedom) so it felt familiar. If you’re ever stuck, just remember that the 5th floor (casino and shops) goes all the way through from forward to aft. We felt the rooms were a little smaller than the other ships – smaller bathroom, narrower entrance hall at the closets, and shorter front to back. Not a big deal, just noted it. Our shower didn’t drain the first evening, but our room steward got it handled ASAP. Room steward was great and cheerful. Oh – we did go to one show called Studio VIP, all 70s music. The singing was better than usual, but wow, the show itself was cheesy. The costumes got crazier as it went on. At one point, my husband said “flamboyant,” and I said “flaming.” One male dancer attempted an actual stripper routine, which was just kind of embarrassingly sad. Just, yikes. It was like a train-wreck, we couldn’t look away. Lol (Sorry, Carnival – still love you!) The Fury Catamaran excursion was fun – that company is top-notch. Very clean boat, looked freshly painted and the workers were cleaning as we went. They serve margaritas and cokes freely after you snorkel. Snorkel gear was clean and new. The pictures they took for us were reasonably priced. We bought 2 for about $12/ea (same price as a 5x7 on the ship). Private beach was OK – it had inflatables and the souvenir sellers didn’t hassle at all. Plenty of chairs and hammocks, and we snagged a cabana. Spent $11 on a cheeseburger to share, with potato salad and pasta salad. Overall – love cruising, love the value of Carnival, great food, great price. Enjoy!

Amazing Celebration by XSpicy1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Valor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a family celebration cruise honoring my Mom's birthday and daughter's 15th anniversary. We had an amazing time. The Valor staff took great care of us and treated my Mom like royalty. Omar and his team in the Washington Dining Room were gracious and attentive. The layout of the Valor was easy to learn. The shows were fun, the country music show story line was a little cheesy for my taste but still enjoyed the evening. Joey was great at BINGO, funny and very entertaining. Would recommend a cruise on the Valor without any reservations.

It was a Great Experience! by Phoenix18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Valor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cozumel was Awesome!!! Although I enjoyed the Ruins, I Really think Progreso should be eliminated from the port of calls. It was Very Disappointing to look out of my window and see nothing but cranes and boxcars.

Nice Caribbean cruise, much needed vacay! by Txcrzr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Valor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I enjoy taking cruises just to get away from everyday work and stress for a short time. Carnival has always been a good experience for us just for rest and relaxation, not to mention the beaches we get to play on during excursion days. Can’t wait to book another trip in the coming months to follow.

My 10th cruise, had never been on the Valor. Very nice ship. Crew was awesome. A few snafus in the main dining, but quickly corrected. It was a Halloween cruise, so lots of activities and fun. The shows were amazing.

Just cruised on the Valor... by CamiJo

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Valor

Just cruised on the Valor this past week. Had a wonderful time! TJ the Cruise Director is full of energy, I was nervous having my last cruise on the Breeze with Schwartz but TJ did not disappoint! 😁 I had cabin category 4J, loved that room. I think my favorite so far and I've had an aft extended balcony on the Breeze. I liked the coziness of the cabin. I did miss the sunsets from the balcony though. First Halloween cruise was a lot of fun and so many cool costumes. The food was pretty good, ate a little of everything. Sure am missing Blue Iguana burritos! The layout of the ship is very easy to learn. Not much luck in the casino, well I was up $78 on a slot machine but lost it all. No luck with bingo. My cabin steward, Pedro did an amazing job! Ate in the MDR once just for the chocolate melting cake. My son found a piece of hair (no bigger than an inch) on his carrot and he was done eating, the server walked up at the moment he was showing it to me. And tried to change the subject before the server caught on, too late. Carnival made up for it by giving him a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. My son told him over an over that it's okay and not too worry about it. I told my son, they believe in making things right. Got FTTF, quick embarkation and disembarking. Loved having a quick guest services line and we got our luggage just before noon, we were in our room just before 11:30. Cozumel did not disappoint, took a taxi to Paradise Beach. Did a ATV excursion through Carnival in Progreso so much fun, our guides were a lot of fun, the food at the beach resort was delicious! I loved all the shows, America Rocks was fantastic. I loved all the Fun Squad crew! Playlist production cast so much talent, my favorite is Crystal. Loved the Red Frog Pub! Start to finish it was a great time! Now c'mon April, I'm ready to go again. This was my 4th cruise and the Valor will be my 1st ship to sail on her twice. 😁😁 Happy cruising!! 🌞🚢🍹⚓🌴🎉

Be careful booking through this. They did not give me on board credit & didn’t decorate room like I asked. We will go on another cruise BUT WILL NOT BOOK THROUGH HERE. We had the time of our lives thanks to Carnival 🛳⚓️

This was my first time on a cruise ever and the experience was unexpected! I did not think I would enjoy the cruise as much as I did. The staff alone made the trip unforgettable. I would recommend Carnival Valor in a heartbeat!

Our room was very comfortable.... by BaylorGrad91

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Valor

Our room was very comfortable. The beds were wonderful- even the fold out couch/bed conversion was comfortable. There was only one electrical outlet for the entire room, so that was a little inconvenient. We brought a multi plug and extension cord, so it was ok. I would recommend bringing your own shampoo bc the shampoo provided was very low quality. No conditioner dispenser at all. Our room steward was very accommodating. We always had extra ice and extra towels. We had a balcony room and it was amazing (other than a neighbor smoking weed). I called guest services and security was there in a heartbeat and really seemed to care about our comfort. Good choices are great. 24-hour pizza service was a little slower than I’d like, but no real complaints bc it was delicious. Loved having a room on the Lido desk bc we were close to all the action. The movie nights were a lot of fun. Getting on and off the boat weren’t too bad, either. Ship is getting a bit shabby, but I hear that it’s scheduled to be refurbished next year. Cruise director TJ was high energy & fun.
