It was borderline ok/good. We had some great experiences and others not so much. It was sold out and the lines on board were crazy fir some things. We never were able at all to eat at the Mongolian Wok.
Did have a message but it was nearing ridiculousness how much stuff the lady tried to sell me when it was over and it was high pressure.
Entertainment was the high point and we enjoyed the Halloween costume party and the decorations. The duty free shopping was nice as well.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Worst embarkation I have ever had. Waited in line to park at the cruise port garage for 20 or more minutes. Waited another 10 for the elevator down. Then waited 45 minutes in the line that went out into the street.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet had a good variety but just fair quality. Guy's Burgers were great. The deli and Blue Iguana were also very good. The main dining room was hit and miss. Sea Day brunch was fabulous. We wanted so much to eat from the Wok station but the lines were massive and they were only open three hours per day.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The pools were good but crowded. The whirlpools on Serenity deck were not always working properly. The fitness center was good.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
This was the highlight of the cruise. The shows were awesome and the comedians were outstanding. The rock and roll band was good, not great and the couple from England were really good. Gutavo in the piano bar was highly entertaining. We went there nightly.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our service was good, a bit slow at times which keeps it from being excellent. Room steward was very good.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was very clean but did have a sewer type smell on a couple of occasions, especially on the Lido deck the last night. The design was good except having to walk by the casino to get to other places and people were smoking heavily in there.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We were very happy with our room. Couch/bed could use updated.
Ship tip
If your check in time is after 11:00, get there very early.
We did not do an excursion. There wasn't much to do here and locals were very aggressively trying to sell you things and pull you into their shops. Many items were lower quality and they tried to bargain way down from original prices, like hundreds of dollars. Some things were way overpriced compared to the same items in Cozumel.
We did the Passion Island excursion which was very nice-except the smell they said was decaying seaweed. Drinks were good as was the food. Great staff to get us there and back as well. Did do some shopping when we returned from the island and was happy with the quality and prices of what we found there.
We were in Muster station G so we were last to be called even though we were carrying our own luggage. Two rounds of "zones" were called before we were which had I known that, I would have let them took the luggage for me as I would have gotten out quicker. The lines again for the parking garage elevators were extremely long and people were arrival to embark before we could get to the car after disembarkation which tied up the elevators even more.
I have been wondering how the crowd was & if they are at full staff. We cruised in April 22 and they were shorthanded. Everything was fine but when you have the drink package it's nice to be approached during seas days for drink orders. I was deck above Lido but could see pool. I saw 1 worker taking orders every once in a while. Didnt get asked once in 2 sea days sitting around Lido and neither did anyone I see get any service.i always enjoyed that so I hope it was a one time thing. Hoping Valor will be a great experience. Never have had a bad cruise tho.
