Review summary

This cruise was a test. The last cruise we took with Carnival was several years ago and it was dreadful. Dirty ship, poor food and ZERO entertainment. We vowed we would never sail with Carnival again and turned to a competitor as a result. Carnival passed the test with flying colors; this whole trip was a real pleasure. "Valor" was beautifully equipped, the interior was spectacular; our stateroom was welcoming and attractive; food selections were well thought out, well presented and with the exception of the steaks offered, cooked to perfection. Breakfast one morning was a bit disappointing when my wife found a black hair her food. We reported it to a steward and were very impressed when the Chef came to our table and apologized. The entertainment was outstanding, great sets and professional talent. Our only real complaint was with the disembarking; while it should have gone smoothly, it was almost a disaster and took way longer than expected.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
A bit tedious, we were scheduled for a 12:00-12:30 "appointment, it was closer to 1:00PM

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Very goo;, great menu selections. However, your buyers need to find a better "beef" supplier. The steaks were tough and poor quality.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the "extra" space. Very clean

Ship tip

Be there early, traffic in NOLA is really bad, especially on days that here are sailings

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Getting a bit boring. Didn't do any excursions

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Very busy, six cruise ships there. Did not do excursions

Disembarkation

Lousy, we were supposed to leave by 8:30am using a system involving using our "muster stations". It was finally our 10:30 before we left the ship. Total confusion

We have sailed out of NOLA many times and feel disembarkation does take longer here but we still love it!

Glad you enjoyed it. There are enough excursion options in Cozumel and Costa Maya to never get bored or do the same thing twice in multiple visits.
