This ship and staff was awful in almost every area I can think to grade on. The only service I would give a decent grade on would be the adult beverages. They were good quality and had a nice variety to choose from. The drink package was not cheap, but I feel that was the only expense of the cruise that wasn't a total and complete RIP off.
Embarkation

Choosing an appointment time is pointless.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The food options were minimal and they served the same thing every day. The quality wasn't terrible, but it often made me wonder if this is what prison food is like.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The adult only hot tubs (there were only 2) only had one working at a time. We played bingo and the process to get game pieces was confusing and unorganized. Then after waiting 40 mins for the game to finally start, it lasted about 15 minutes.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The adult comedy show was very entertaining, but the schedule, available seating, and length were very disappointing.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
If I could leave no star here I would. The entire staff that I interacted with never smiled, never seemed happy, and often made me feel as though I was an inconvenience to them. We saw our room steward once and it was on the first day when he asked when we would like our room cleaned, then we only saw him in passing in the hall. Spa and casino management should be replaced by people that dont obviously hate their job and interacting with passengers.
Ship Quality

Although I did see staff constantly cleaning, it kind of sucked that everywhere you went you saw the staff cleaning and felt like you had to go around them instead of them stepping aside for you. Additionally, they were "cleaning" with dry cloths. I never saw sanitizers or disinfectant. I never smelled sanitizers or disinfectants. There was hand sanitizer machines outside the dining areas, but more than once I experienced them being empty or not functioning.
The layout of decks 9-11 are just plain dumb design. My opinion of the ships design are just that, opinion. However, the cleanliness of the ship is undeniably the worst I have seen in any of my travels.
Cabin / Stateroom

Comfort and size were actually a pleasant surprise. However, when we arrived in our cabin, we wiped every thing down with Clorox wipes and it was pretty obvious the room was made to "look" clean but was not actually cleaned. It was really quite gross and I'm glad we brought our own cleaning/sanitation supplies.
Ship tip
Don't do it! I know the lower price is tempting, but it is still over priced and extremely disappointing.
Xplore park was awesome! I would definitely recommend that. The staff was not only happy, but they seemed to go out of there way to make you feel special.
We did the Chichen Itza VIP tour. This would have been excellent if there was more time to explore and appreciate the history. It was a 2hr bus ride each way (4hrs total to/from the ship), and the total time allotted for the actual excursion was about 2.5 hrs. That kind of stunk, but it was a really great tour otherwise.
This was almost laughable if it wasn't so terrible. It was so unorganized. Breakfast was available from 7am to 930am. You had to leave your cabin by 830am and be off the ship by 10am. They closed the dining rooms at 830 and the buffet at 9am. The organization and process of getting passengers off the ship was so incompetent, they were still disembarking passengers past 1230 when we finally got off the ship. There were still hundreds of people behind us.
Ahh, is somebody growing a temper tamper! Maybe mommy and daddy can buy so a better activity where everyone will coddle to your every whim. Your review is laughable because of how ridiculous it is.
Apparently you think you’re the Queen of England or something. Who in the world expects crew members to stop what they’re doing and step aside so your royal highness can pass by?? Obviously cruising isn’t for you. Perhaps find something else to do with your vacation time. Although I suspect you treat all service people this way, so maybe you should just stay home until you can adjust your attitude and expectations. Wow!
I can't believe the crew, who apparently we're working their tails off, didn't drop everything upon your approach and salute to your greatness. They obviously had no idea it was you, maybe they didn't get the memo. Been on many cruises and have never expected a crew member, who's cleaning or performing some task during their extremely long shift, to stop what they are doing because I was strolling through on vacation without a care in the world. Even the ones that don't smile or acknowledge me in passing get my complete respect. Lighten up a little and cut these people some slack, they bust their butts constantly for all of us. Everyone has bad days, maybe show some kindness and you'll get it in return.
So sorry you did not enjoy your experience. I have sailed with Carnival 3 times and on the Valor twice and never had this experience. I hope your next cruise is a lot better
Sounds like you tried hard to have a bad Cruise and you succeeded. Next time stay home if you are going to be so negative. A cruise is what you make it to be.
I’ve been on 15 cruises, including the Valor and never had this type of experience. Everything doesn’t go perfectly every time, but you deal with it and move on. Sounds like you tried as hard as you could to have a bad time and you did. Try the sunny side of the street. You’ll be a happier person.
Sorry you were disappointed. We actually loved our trip on the Valor. It was our first cruise and was so much fun we are cruisers for life.Maybe a different cruise line would be better for you....
The world is a looking-glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. Frown at it, and it will in turn look sourly upon you; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly kind companion; and so let all young persons take their choice.
