Review summary

Cheap tickets with too many hidden expenses! Carnival will not be our 1st choice in the future!

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good throughout the ship! We were a little disappointed with the drink policies.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Couldn’t wait to cruise on a boat with a water slide! Unfortunately, the slide was slow and boring.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the comedy shows!

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My kids hated the Kids Club. The staff there were very unfriendly and stressed.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The waiters and room stewards were awesome! Most of the rest of the staff (hosts, guest services, casino, etc) were rude and seemed put out by any requests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
You can tell it’s an older boat, but it’s well maintained and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was good size and the bed was very comfortable!

Ship tip

Carnival is a cheaper cruise option and you get what you pay for!

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
We love New Orleans!

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Beautiful port, but we didn’t have much time to really explore it.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
We loved seeing Chichen Itza, but the entire excursion was very rushed and stressful. We needed more time!

All of the mainstream cruise lines have a similar pricing structure - a reasonable price that includes all you need and you pay extra for things everyone may not want. If you want to try a specialty restaurant, drink alcohol, go to the spa, etc., then you do pay more for those services. We rarely purchase anything other than our cruise fare and always have a great time. If you want a truly all inclusive experience, try Viking, Symphony, Crystal, Oceania, etc. Just be prepared to pay 3 - 5 times what Carnival charges.

Not sure what hidden expenses you are talking about but you aren’t going to get any better than Carnival when it comes to this unless you try one of the high end cruise lines like Viking.
