Overall I enjoyed was a little disappointed in the Valor but once again I believe I found myself comparing it with Norwegian. Getting off at the ports were too slow and took entirely too long. They need organization and taking almost 2 hours to get you off and detaining your excursions ...really get a better system. Would I travel them again? Yes but maybe another ship. They weren't all bad just need improvement as we all.
Embarkation

It went smooth for the most part. There was a little wait but since we had Faster to the Fun we was able to board quicker and our room was ready as soon as we got on board. I was a little disappointed as there was no welcoming crew or welcoming signs and music playing to greet you. In my last 2 crusies with on Norwegian there was was the excitement, crew singing and welcoming you. On the Valor everyone was hurryinng along and there was no welcoming music and even the taking of picture you were hurriedly along.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Dining rooms: Great! Food: good; Service: good; I wished I had ate at the dining rooms more often. Specialty resturant: Superb! All fantastic - big portions of food and service was excellent. I must say I never seen a slice of Cheese Cake that big, delicious but just couldn't eat it all. Now the buffet - this sadden and disappointed me as well as my whole family. In fact I would call this more a cafeteria type dining then a buffet. And some of the places colesed way too early. The burger bar had excellent burgers but they closed too early. The buffet was a hugh disappointment to my son and grandson. The buffet just wasn't what I expected.
Onboard Activities

Pools were crowded and I believe I only saw 2 hot tubs. They had an adult only section maybe this was good for some but I really didn't like it. I enjoyed self on top deck one day and took in the sun but my daughter got too much sun and suffer repercussions from extreme sun burns. I was disappointed in the layout as was I was not able to walk around the whole ship (upper deck) due to the adult only section and too many cigaret smoking areas. I am sure many people found the onboard activities exciting as many seemed to be enjoying self. I will say I enjoyed watching the hairiest chest contest even though one guy became too revealing.

Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I must say my steward was excellent. He was very helpful and he kept the ice bucket filled. And other stewards were smiling and helpful. Always willing to get you inthe right direction. The waiters in the main dining room and specialty resturants were outstanding. Now the waiters in the buffet area were a little slow and didn't appear as happy but perhaps that is because they needed more help.
Ship Quality

Hated the layout...really a casino in the middle. You had to walk through it and even children going through it. Close it off. too many smoking areas. The ship is showing it's age but afterall it is an older ship. Some of the uncleanness I beleive was caused by the guest leaving bottles and plates in the elevators and cigaret butts being tracked. The ship just didn't have enough help to keep it immaculate.. Rooms were big and spacious, this I enjoyed and halls were roomy, another plus.

Ship tip
Do not judge it by it's food at the buffet. Primarily for families. Be patient as they do not get in a hurry to get you off at ports.
I didn't care for the port. Had to park and catch a shuttle and tote your bags. But there did appear to be an opening on the other side for entering and unloading luggage. I guess I compare this to New Orleans and I really liked it more at New Orleans. But i enjoyed town of Galveston more.
Enjoyed but wasn't long enough and it rained. Got soaking wet. Everything seemed rushed. and on the bus guy in front of us was rude and kept laying his seat down.
Kinda true on boarding. It's really a disorganized mess as you wander around and realize you need to get on the elevator. I remember Princess cruises that moved you right into the dining room for lunch so the lobby wouldn't be backed up
Wow we had no trouble getting on or off the Valor last June. The only snag was getting off in Galveston. Cozumel and Progreso were right on. We got to our excursions right on time. The staff were very helpful and courteous at all times. We would take another cruise on the Valor.
