I will Never cruise Carnival because of the lack of customer service skills as well as communication skills between employees. Money was stolen from my room by the steward! You should feel safe in your own cabin, but we did not.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It went fast and smoothly, we were on pretty quickly because we arrived early.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I tried a little bit of everything and it was not bad. The dining experience was my favorite.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Didn’t have a hard time finding seats the two days we did lay out. Stayed at the main pool to see the activities but wasn’t very impressed.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The shows we’re pretty plain. You can tell they are like zombies while performing. I love theatre and I guess that’s what I was assuming going on this trip. The comedy shows were the best. The St. Jude “party” really was a disappointment because the cruise director was begging for money and it felt uncomfortable. I get it, it is a charity but don’t force people to donate and catch an attitude when they don’t.
Service and Staff

First I want to say not all staff memebers are bad. However, the experience I had on this ship is uncanny. My mom, her friend, my friend and I (4) adults left the ship at 9 AM to go to Cozumel we arrived back on the ship at 4 PM. Right before we all left I put $300 in cash in an envelope with my passport and my friend put $300 in her bank envelope with a ear patch. Locked the safe and left the room. After we returned she went to get the ear patch and all of her cash was gone as well as mine. My passport was still remaining though. We tore our room upside hopefully thinking we misplaced it by some chance. After no luck I contacted security and they came into our room and went through all of our belongings for at least 2 hours searching for the money. Of course, like us they found nothing. They did report to us that the only person who had access to our cabin was our steward at 10:30. So red flag, HELLO THAT IS COMMON SENSE TO WHO TOOK IT! They proceeded to say they were going to investigate the situation and I can check in with member services later that night. I went down the last 3 nights of the cruise and calmly asked about my situation and every time they brought a security gaurd to come speak to me. I kept on being told it is still under investigation. The last night of the trip I was fed up and wanted an answer, which after requesting head of security he came down to tell me there is nothing they can do, that they found no money in my room or anywhere else and he was sorry. IT DOES NOT TAKE 3 DAYS FOR YOU TO COME UP WITH THAT DECISION AND TELL ME YOU ARE SORRY! I was livid, I got everyone names who is involved and will be contacting corporate tomorrow. It’s one thing that we are out the money, life goes on I can live. However, the way they handled the situation sickens me. You read things like this all the time thinking it won’t happen to me. Well it did and gave me one damn good lesson. I will NEVER cruise Carnival again.
Ship Quality

It was kept clean daily.
Cabin / Stateroom

It was very cramped with 4 people but was functional. Just don’t use your safe please, the above situation ruined my whole trip.
Oh my gosh that's horrible, and I just asked carnival about how safe the "safes" are. Makes me nervous now.. I'll carry all important documents and money and cards on me in a small waterproof pouch...I can't afford to take chances...this is kind of a let down.
There are multiple factors to the situation. The other people in the room were my mother, one of our closet family friends, my best friend where $300 of that money was hers, and me where the other $300 belonged too. I am 99.5% sure they did not take the money. We decided to hide the key we used to lock the safe so at any time we had access Incase someone needed something out of it. With that being said, the steward should not be digging through drawers or suitcases period while the room is occupied. I already wrote the money off as a lose the day they came to search the room. I’m more upset that they waited so long and gave me hope til the end of the cruise to just say there is nothing they can do. Just wanted to warn future cruises to be safe and a heck of a lot smarter then we were is all. Carnival isn’t a bad company, it’s just the customer service that got to me.
I’m so sorry you had that bad experience. However on the contrary I left my wedding ring in our room after debarkment day. And they ran back to my room once I was already off the ship and brought the ring to me. I was definitely blessed and lucky that day
What they're all saying is true, stateroom attendants do not have access to the master code or programmers to open a safe. This responsibility rest with the housekeeping supervisor or the purser staff. Their security saw that only the attendent had entered the room and apparently assumed somebody in your party took it. Who knows if they had cctv surveillance of the hall or if they even reviewed it.
Note there were other possibilities if the room door was left propped or the safe not locked, but I don't think you're going to get any recourse from Carnival
I have been on over 20 carnival cruises. I have never used my safe . I leave my personal belongings... jewelry, watches, wallet , cash, phones either in a draw or on top of the dresser/ desk. I have never had anything come up missing .... that includes my 3 cruises on the Valor.
But I cruise solo.... what I'm trying to say is look at your cabin mate....😏
I use the safe every cruise and I always keep my valuables including cash abs my wedding ring in there..never had an issue. On the Magic last year, the safes required a code you created, not a CC as in my previous cruises. I honestly dont know how anyone can access the safe. I'm truly sorry you had this misfortune.
The person that locks the safe has to open the safe! HOWEVER Frankie our cruise director did make a comment on Q/A night that if a person should miss the boat at a port they go to your room get your passport and leave it at customs at port you are so you can get home. So a normal person would keep passport in safe which would mean they would have to have a master card. I don’t believe the steward would have a master card to safe only to rooms.
Ok that's crazy because I have always been told that only your room card can open that safe. Not even your steward. But I'll admit to putting something in my safe but not using the card to lock it. You have to scan the card to lock and unlock. Maybe you closed the door and failed to scan again to lock the safe door.
No one can open that safe except you with the card you chose. Room stewards do not have access to the safes. I agree with Mystang and others. You may want to look at who you were with.
Why would you have so much cash when we cruise we keep maybe 50$ with us and that’s it they will take your debit card anywhere and if it get lost or stolen all you have to do is contact your bank and cancel it no need for cash
No matter where you go in a hotel or cruise ship you should always put your money up with your valuables. Either put them in the safe or hide them in your clothes somewhere.
Thats what we thought too. I had $600 in the safe, I know for a fact I put it in there right before we left for Cozumel. Got back on the boat at 4:30 went to put the rest of my belongings up and all my cash was gone.
