Review summary

Nice weather, nice staff, small ship, crowded, not the best food on this cruise, but it wasn't an expensive trip anyway. I will definitely cruise again, just on a bigger ship; they are roomier and more comfortable to navigate through a sea of people!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
smooth and steady

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
buffet left a lot to be desired, main dining was mediocre and Scarlett's was fantastic.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Entertainment was lacking.

Shogun Club Casino

4 out of 5

This was probably where I had the most fun. I didn't win a ton of money, but met a lot of nice people. Friendly staff.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
DJ great, Calypso great, Stage shows, great, the rest, blahhh

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from all staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I was spoiled after going on the Breeze. The Valor is just too small for the amount of people sailing.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
comfortable, clean, best Steward on the ship, Fauzi. He took great care of me and my daughter. We didn't want for anything.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Been there a hundred times, just had to go to get on the ship!

Cozumel, Mexico

It's my 3rd trip and this is the nicest port I have visited thus far. Our excursion was Mr. Sancho's because it is the best resort! Jersey, our bartender never fails us!

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
We took a van ride on the pier to get to the mainland and go to our excursion. This is a very poor city, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed the ride through town looking at all the markets and buildings. Our guide Aaron gave us good information. The excursion was a bit of a let down after going to Mr. Sancho's, but I was glad to contribute to their tourism. These people work hard for very little. It makes you appreciate the abundance we have in the states. The government must be very corrupt for this to be happening in such a beautiful part of the Yucatan. The beaches were beautiful. The people very friendly, just very poor.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The best I have ever had. Our deck was called first. We took our own luggage and was in the car by 8:30 am or so.

Fauzi was our room steward also & he was wonderful! When we were heading to our bus after we got off, we heard someone say our names & it was him! He was headed home for a well deserved break with his wife & child.

I'm going on the Valor next year, second time on her. First time was a few years back and the mdr service was not good at all.
