Shingaling I agree. I tell my girlfriend that every year and every year there is some type of an issue. All the holds. I take cash and load my sail and sign card. You can always get back what you don't use.

We always have a cash account on board and use cash in ports!!!!

You can put cash on your account, but if you try to buy something onboard and have used up your acct balance you have to keep going back to put cash on your account. Credit cards or gift cards are our preferred options.

It was strongly suggested not to use a debit card because of the holds placed on the cards can make it overdrawn. It takes time to get the holds cleared and just have the amount actually spent deducted.

Don't ever use a bank/debit card on a cruise. Ever.

We cruised on Valor last year and had a great time. But I agree the people were not nearly as nice as the other ships. The shows were not as good. My room ok but my friend had a lot of small issues with her room. I swear she waited on clean towels every day. It wasn't bad enough for us to avoid the ship but not great like the others.

Don't think the op was complaining about the money he "spent", rather moreso how he was "charged" on the money he spent.

I’ve been overcharged on two different ships. They said it was on hold, but all charges had been posted! Then they had them pending again. It took many calls between the bank, cruise lines and me to fix it. ☹️

I am confused how your card is overcharged when in your possession, the only thing put on is the mandated hold. If more than one person was an authorized user, you have to check their spending.

Cruised the Valor 3 times. The best three cruises I've had. The crew members were the greatest and thats what made those cruises so great. I don't think anyone on the Valor even knows how to be rude. Did they overcharge your bank card or did "you over spend" your account?
