Review summary

For our first cruise experience, this was the best vacation we could ask for. We enjoyed everything the ship had to offer. There is something for everyone. Carnival really goes out of there way to make this a great experience. If anyone doesn’t enjoy it, it’s becsuse you chose not to.

Embarkation

It was fast, easy and efficient. We got on with no problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was amazing. So many options, varieties to choose from. Desserts and drinks were awesome.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools, golf, fitness center, track were great. The water slide was not working. They opened it for a short time on one day but had it under construction the other days. The hot tubs filled up with kids. If it had been working, the pool would have been more fun. The sauna wasn’t working on the ladies side. Not many people take advantage of it on a cruise so not a big deal. I still give everything 5 stars

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was fantastic. The shows and comedy shows we’re awesome. We enjoyed everything. There was a singer Donnie that performed throughout the ship, he was fantastic. There was an older country couple and they sang old country style. That wasn’t the best. Loved the 80s trivia and we had so much fun with all the entertainement.

Children's Programs

We don’t have children. Didn’t attend any of the children’s programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Christina from the Ukraine our room steward was the sweetest, friendliest person. She remembered our names the entire time and was always available to help. Her customer service blew us away. Susana from the Philippines bussed the tables and she made conversation with everyone. She was so friendly and genuine and gave us advise on the port. She was the only one who took time to stop and make a connection with guests. These two ladies need to be recognized as a huge asset to Carnival.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our first cruise and we were so amazed by everything on the ship. It was always clean and being cleaned several times per day.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was perfect for the two of us. It had a lot of closet space and the bed was so comfortable. We got a good nights sleep every night. We barely felt any rocking of the ship. It was quiet and we didn’t have any issues. It was not super small. We have stayed in Hotel rooms in NYC that were the same size or smaller so it was perfect. We were only in there to sleep.

Ship tip

Turn off your cell phones and don’t use them. Enjoy the ship and activities and all it has to offer. We didn’t get the internet package on purpose. We wanted to enjoy our vacation without being tied to social media and texting on our phones. I thought I would panic being disconnected from my phone. I wasn’t. We had the best time ever.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

First time being to Galveston. We just parked and boarded the ship. There was a biker rally going on at port. A lot of people and vendors. Was fun to see everything going on

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cozumel was beautiful. We did an excursion where we visited downtown Cozumel and went to a beach club. It was nice. We ate at the beach club and sat on the beach. We only had an hour on the beach. I wish it was longer. The beach was rocky but we saw beautiful fish and you could snorkel for $3. We did a tequila tasting in downtown and some shopping. The port itself was fun. We got a fish pedicure and massage on the port in a cabana. We bought some liquor at a great price and t shirts. We enjoyed Cozumel.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We did the excursion to Chichen Itza Ikkil with lunch at the Cenote. The transportation and guide was amazing. Very efficient. Arturo gave us info on the history and then played a movie for the remainder of the ride. When we arrived we were greeted by many vendors trying to sell their items. This didn’t bother us. We just politely said no. The ruins were beautiful and the Cenote was awesome. We jumped off the rock and swam and it was a great experience. We didn’t get to eat lunch cause we decided to spend more time in the Cenote. At chichen itza if you are going to use a gopro to take pics, you have to pay a tax to the government at the gate and they only accept pesos. Any other camera is acceptable.
