Review summary

My husband and I had not cruised in 10 years and We had a great time. The ship is older (or at least seems that way) but it's kept very clean and all things are functional. They do a great job at keeping entertainment going for all ages and all types of fun from bars, clubs, to movies, and lounging with music.

The only thing that left something to be desired was the food. At some points we felt we were eating hospital food with 0 seasoning or taste. Or on the other spectrum, one evening the accompanying mushrooms with my meal were so salty even my husband, who likes salty things, couldn't swallow it. We don't expect a 5 star rated restaurant BUT in all honesty, chicken fingers in a fast food restaurant have more taste.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The staff was great! The food taste was not.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows with the dancers were not great, but as long as the music was good, we enjoyed it.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness 5 stars, design varied. The spa could be made to look more like a spa. It felt more like a service counter at a department store.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean and all things functional with room for all of our things.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Oranjestad, Aruba

If beach is all you want, go up the main road and stop at Eagle Beach. The sunset is amazing form there!!! If you continue north towards the light house, there are great locations on the side of the road for snorkeling.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
If you scuba dive, book with a high rated company (we did Bas Harts and it was the best!) and scuba. It is absolutely beautiful below the waves.

Grand Turk Island

I got off of the carnival valor from a 8 day southern carribean tour. Aug 6th 2016 to aug 14. The buffet food was just food. I wouldnt write home about. But my resturant experience was and allways has been stellar. The chatobreain with bernaise sauce, absolutly magnificent. Not to menition my first time eating escargo. Who knew it was that good. You deserve to be smacked for not telling me things. Lol. But the debarkation, horrible. The porter picked out the wrong bag when i had to opt for relaxed debarkation.. Once i found the discrepency, i rushed back from new-smyrna fla. And treated as if i had grabed the wrong bag. When i was infact wheeled about from ship to car. Now that was reinviting. But the guy that had me sign showing i had indeed brought the bag back. Made me feel bad, imploring i had criminal intent. I love cruising. but that one event makes me seek a cruise with another cruise line

Thanks for the update! Did you try the other places than the dining room? Or were they all that disappointing?
