Review summary

I was pretty disappointed for this being our first cruise and the hidden fees, and extras that we ended up paying. There were both good and bad parts to our vacation, but overall, I was left disappointed in the whole adventure.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Always very crowded with long lines at the buffets. The dining rooms were awesome and the staff was great; I like having set dining times.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Many of the activities were cancelled due to weather; the ones we were able to attend were fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedy shows were good and the magic show (even though it had to be modified) and probably my favorite thing about the whole trip.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
The kids club for ages up to 11 was too juvenile for my kids and my middle child was allowed to attend the older club which left my 10 year old alone and unwilling to attend the club and they wouldn't allow him to be with his 2 brothers in the other age group.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
For the most part, the staff was great. Our dining staff was amazing and we loved them. The lady I talked to at the excursion desk couldn't care less about what I had to say or ask and just wanted to leave...or at least that's what it felt like to me. I was very disappointed with some of the service we received and many times I felt as though I was a commission for some of the staff. And the whole "best vacation guarantee" is kind of a joke when you have to declare it 24 hours after embarkation...I didn't have an issue with staff until we were at sea.

It was chilly and windy. Our tour guides were great!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We were late to port, but for the most part it was easy to get our stuff and get off the ship.

Just cruised for the first time in December and I loved it.. if you payed extra for something, it wasn’t hidden!

It’s first time cruise talk. Usually that means, paying extra for lobster, paying for specialty food shops, etc. Even though it is written what is free and not, first timers can be so excited that they glance over the fine bold print. Lol! Hey, when I found out they started charging for lobster while I was at the captains dinner, I almost felt like going over board! Lol!

If you're talking about specialty dining and things you buy in the ship's stores and yes those are extra

If you remove your tips aka hidden fees you’re a total shiat bag! Those workers are worth every penny of their tips aka hidden fees!

You could have gone to customer service desk and had the hidden fees removed.

I have been on 8 cruises and have never seen any hidden fees. Tips or not hidden. They tell you about those when you book.

I always hear people talk about hidden fees. Never had any. What are they? All I can think would be tips and i prepay those.

What extras?

yk07us    5 years ago

What kind of hidden fees? If you mean gratuities that's not a secret. What else did you end up paying for on top of regular fees?

A little research would have clued you in on the extra expenses
