Great first cruise! Now I want to go on one at least every year! I was a little worried that I would get seasick, but in the Gulf of Mexico the water was so smooth I barely could tell we were on a ship!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth! We had our time to board set at 1-1:30pm we did arrive a little early and decided to go and walk around the Riverwalk in New Orleans. Once we were in line it was super easy you can tell that they have the process pretty figured out so there are close to no hiccups!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I would definitely recommend eating in the dining room every night for dinner! The Turkey wraps from the deli were my favorite for a quick snack and getting your omelet made the way you want was awesome for breakfast!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The only activity we really participated in was the Bingo which was a lot of fun, but we didn't win. The ice sculpting was neat, but it was so hot the sculpture melted pretty quick.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We went to the comedy show almost every night! The 18+ show is definitely for 18+ I wouldn't bring your kids, but it is hilarious! We also went to the show called The Big Easy which is a show based on New Orleans, it was fantastic! We really enjoyed the magic/illusion show!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The room steward we had was great! It was my boyfriends birthday on one of the last day's and she made him a special towel animal and also wrote Happy Birthday on the mirror, which I thought was such as sweet touch!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was extremely clean! I even mentioned to my boyfriend one time that it seemed like they were constantly cleaning the ship!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was small of course being an interior room, but it served it's purpose. This is the only complaint I had about the entire cruise is that when we took a shower the drainage system almost seemed non existent every time some one took a shower it flooded and the whole bathroom floor was wet. They have a drain outside of the shower so I was unsure if this was normal or not, but it was extremely aggravating to deal with.
Ship tip
Bring your own lanyard for your Sail & Sign card and also don't worry about bringing your own towels since they are provided by the ship.
Me and my boyfriend love New Orleans! This was our second time going and it's so neat to explore the city! Go to the Zoo it's one of best around!! Also visit Magazine St. if you like going to boutique type shops!
We did the Catamaran Sail, Snorkel, and Beach party excursion and it was amazing! I had never been snorkeling like that before and it was amazing how clear the water is and how the fish would swim right by you! It was also a lot of fun at the beach with all of the different slides and what nots to play on in the water, then relaxing in a hammock on the beach was great!
We ended up going to an all inclusive beach resort through a company called AutoProgresso. It was absolutely perfect! All of the food and drinks were included, it was right on the beach with a pool and we also paid a little extra and got a massage! Loved this excursion, super relaxing!
Disembarkation was just as smooth as getting on the ship we actually got off an hour earlier than expected, which was great because then we had more time to explore New Orleans!
The gulf is safe, the Caribbean OK mostly (watch out during hurricane season). Glad you had a positive first cruise experience. Hope the ones that follow are equally enjoyable.
