Review summary
The Carnival Triumph is worn out and has an overall outdated decor, but knowing that going in, we had the perfect vacation. Our stateroom attendant Gunawan, was exceptionally nice and helpful. The beds are comfy and linens were spotless. Good pillow variety too. We had a standard balcony cabin.
Progresso was a new port for us. We LOVED it! Super cheap and good massages on the beach from friendly staff. Progresso has a very "Old Mexico" feel which was a welcome change from Cozumel. We really enjoy Cozumel and go there several times a year on cruises and always enjoy ourselves at Pancho's Backyard, but Progresso has a completely different vibe. We were a little nervous about eating there because it isn't "westernized" but didn't have any ill effects.
On the ship, the food and restaurant staff were amazing. We really enjoyed the "Steak House Selections" addition to the menu which allows you to get higher quality food for a $20 up charge. I did this two nights and got the Lobster both times. It was the best Lobster I've ever had. Tasted like really Maine Lobster and not the Rock Lobster they used to serve.
Of course, Guy's Burgers and Blue Iguana Cantina are a big hit in our family also and the main reason we continue to travel on this ship. That and the fact it cruises out of Galveston, TX on shorter than a week itineraries.

Ship tip
Don't miss Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana Cantina. Ask for server Polly in the Anytime Dining room…he is funny and very nice.
